RUPP TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCES INDUSTRY'S ONLY TRUE WINDOWS FILE TRANSFER
SOFTWARE UTILITY

WinLynx Provides Fastest Ever PC-to-PC Data Transfers; RUPPnet Feature
Facilitates Peripheral Sharing

May 13, 1994 -- PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Rupp Technology Corporation has
introduced WinLynx, a next generation PC-to-PC file transfer utility
software program that offers users their first opportunity to move and
manage files between connected personal computers while remaining in and
taking full advantage of all features of the Windows graphical user
interface (GUI).

Additional easy-to-use WinLynx features include: extensive drive and
directory synchronization options; advanced resource sharing; and,
in-background file transfers at record data transfer speeds boosted by
Rupp's proprietary 18-wire parallel cable -the "express lane" of file
transfer cabling.

"WinLynx is the first file transfer program with its own true Windows
interface," said Rupp Technology Vice-President Shelly Lipkin. "Unlike
other file transfer products being offered to Windows users today, WinLynx
is not simply a DOS product tweaked to run alongside Windows," said
Lipkin, "but a designed-for-Windows, fully icon-based program."

For the growing GUI personal computer community, that means not having to
effectively leave the industry-standard Windows graphics-oriented
environment -with its "drag-and drop" icon movement features and familiar
dialog boxes and other graphical enhancements -- in order to effect file
transfers or any of the dozens of other file management functions offered
by WinLynx, according to Lipkin.

Also key to WinLynx are added file and disk management capabilities
available through WX Sync -- an extensive file, disk drive and computer
clock synchronizing feature. WX Sync allows users to easily undertake the
complete "synchronizing" of selected data so that two connected computers
will end up with identical, time-stamped files or complete drives without
the user having to make visual comparisons.

WinLynx also comes with several one-of-a-kind file and disk management
capabilities allowing for cross directory "tagging" (selection of files
for transfer), retagging, reverse tagging, search and tag by selected
attributes (name, date or time).

Advanced Resource Sharing Capabilities

The new WinLynx utility program also includes RUPPnet -- a set of advanced
resource sharing features that allows complete and easy access to any and
all peripheral devices connected to linked computer systems -- as well as
mouse support for both DOS and Windows.

From past experience with the industry's most critically acclaimed file
transfer program -- FastLynx -- Rupp has developed WinLynx as an even more
versatile new flagship product by converting its device driver into a
greatly streamlined TSR, (Terminate and Stay Resident), program called
RUPPnet.

In addition to station-to-station file transfers across a network, RUPPnet
allows for much greater resource sharing functions than previously
available on a file transfer utility. These include: the ability to access
any and all connected disk drives, file servers, CD-ROM drives and
printers -- multi-directionally -- from any station via a Novell IPX
network driver or similar local area network (LAN) arrangement. This can
take place in background mode in order to allow unrestricted use of all
connected systems or network stations.

The RUPPnet TSR program can also provide complete data security and
password protection on any specific drive a user wishes to remove from the
pool of shared devices, or share with only selected users.

Using RUPPnet, WinLynx's device sharing functions give users access to an
unlimited number of peripherals connected across local area network
environments.

WinLynx is being offered by Rupp Technology as both a standalone new entry
into the growing community of Windows products -- for Windows users who
need to move files between physically connected computers -- or as an
upgrade for new Windows users from Rupp's critically acclaimed FastLynx
file transfer utility which performs most of the same functions within
DOS.

First in Its Class, Again

In all, WinLynx offers nearly two dozen new features not previously
available on Rupp file transfer software, most of which are also unique to
this class of product. Among the added first run capabilities are such
time saving functions as a fully automated installation process and
extensive report-generating or "scripting" functions -- including the
ability to create editable, re-usable lists of transfer operations.

Popular features being carried over from other Rupp file transfer programs
to WinLynx include file compression and automatic upload (remote transfer)
via "cloning" -- a proprietary feature first offered in Rupp's FastLynx
and now imitated by most Rupp competitors. Also standard is an extensive
diagnostic program, auto port and auto speed select functions, and error
correction support.

Available from the company that produces the award-winning FastLynx file
transfer utility for DOS -- until now, the industry's fastest file
transfer option for PCs -- WinLynx has already been clocked significantly
faster than even Rupp's existing transfer programs at speeds of up to, and
often beyond, 9 MBytes per minute (when transferring files via parallel
mode between 486-based PCs). This new benchmark makes WinLynx up to 100
percent faster than the best transfer speeds specified by its nearest
competitors.

WinLynx comes equipped with 3 1/2-inch floppy disks and two cables -- a
four-headed 7-wire serial cable equipped with both 9 and 25 pin connectors
on each end and Rupp's own innovative 18-wire parallel cable. System
software requirements for running WinLynx include minimum DOS version 3.0
and Windows 3.X or higher.

WinLynx is now available coast-to-coast at a suggested U.S. retail price of
$]69.95. Upgrades for registered users of other Rupp file-transfer
products -FastLynx and its predecessor, Fastwire -- are available for
$39.95.

In the U.S., WinLynx is being distributed to computer product outlets
nationwide through Ingram Micro, Merisel and Kenfil Distribution. In
Canada, distribution is being handled by Gentek and Canadian Computer
Wholesale.

Founded in 1985, Rupp Technology Corporation is based in Phoenix and
maintains divisional offices in Los Angeles and New York. A pioneer in a
variety of file management technologies, Rupp was the first to offer
serial and parallel cable transfer together in the same product, remote
file transfer software installation and a true Windows file transfer
environment.
