BORLAND SUPPORTS ORACLE WORKGROUP SERVER WITH DATABASE TOOLS

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- March 15, 1994 -- Borland International Inc. --
(NASDAQ:BORL) today announced that it will support the Oracle Workgroup
Server with its leading relational database management products, Paradox
for Windows and upcoming dBASE for Windows.

"Borland is committed to open standards and helping our customers develop
solutions from different vendors," said Richard Schwartz, ser or vice
president and chief technical officer, Borland. "Borland's strategy is to
leverage its substantial PC database market share by 'upsizing' our
customers to Borland client/server environments; supporting the new Oracle
server ensures that we'll be able to capitalize on the industry's
downsizing trend to client/server as well."

Paradox for Windows provides ease-of-use features for new users, the
flexibility that power users require and the development environment that
developers need to build sophisticated applications. Built with
object-oriented programming techniques, Paradox for Windows is powerful
enough to be deployed in mission-critical, enterprise-wide corporate
environments, yet offers the ease of use required by end users. A fully
object-oriented development language, ObjectPAL, allows developers to
easily create custom applications.

dBASE for Windows, currently under development, is Borland's highly
anticipated Windows version of the dBASE language with database management
system. More than six million copies of the dBASE program have been sold
worldwide, and it is the database standard for thousands of corporations
and large organizations. In the upcoming Windows release, customers will
be able to use in the Windows environment all of their existing knowledge,
data and applications created with dBASE, as well as gain instant access
to client/server and a fully object-oriented programming environment for
creating business-critical applications.

Finally, Borland's database tools provide the best data compatibility and
access to corporate data on the market. Using a common database engine,
Paradox and dBASE provide users with transparent access to local data
stored in Paradox and dBASE (DOS and Windows) formats, as well as
server-based data, without rewriting applications. This allows customers
to have interoperability with databases and applications throughout the
enterprise, no matter where the information resides; scalability that can
upsize applications from small desktop environments to the largest
enterprise-wide systems; and improved reliability by using a single
database engine for a wide array of enterprise data.

"Borland's database tools are clearly popular choices in the market, and
provide a great fit with the Oracle Workgroup Server," said Nimish Mehta,
vice president, desktop products, Oracle Corporation. "We're committed to
working with Borland to provide superior enterprise-wide solutions to our
customers."
Borland and Oracle are also exploring ways to further enhance their
relationship through joint development and marketing programs.
