Windows Bible Now on CD-ROM

March 1994 -- Berkeley, CA--Rave reviews greeted publication of The Windows
3.1 Bible by Peachpit Press last year. The New York Times went so far as
to call it "the best" book available on Windows. Now, as an encore, author
Fred Davis has compiled a complete interactive CD version of the
book--called The Windows Bible CD-ROM-implemented with Microsoft's
multimedia Viewer.

Users can now point, click and quickly search for any topic or detail
covered in the 1154-page Windows 3.1 Bible faster than flipping through
its pages. This CD provides the most comprehensive online help system for
Windows, with complete details about every nuance of the user interface
and exhaustive technical documentation of Windows system components and
.INI files.

The Windows Bible CD-ROM is not only the first major computer book to be
offered in a fully interactive version--it also represents a marketing
breakthrough. Most other books on CD-ROMs cost significantly more than
their paper versions. The Windows Bible CDROM retails for just seven
dollars more the book--only $34.95--making it affordable to any Windows
user with a CD-ROM drive. (For only $49.95, you can purchase The Windows
Bible Book/CDROM Combo, a shrinkwrapped package of both products--a 20%
savings off the component prices. Combo available April 1994.)

As a bonus (in effect, for free), this new CD also contains an array of
benefits that Mr. Davis calls Windows Goodies: over 500 megabytes of
fonts, sounds, video, images, icons, utilities, games and more. Many of
these Goodies are being offered here the first time, having originated in
Mr. Davis's own multimedia lab.

Author Fred Davis has written more than 10 computer books, and is one of
the country's leading computer journalists. A former columnist and editor
of PC WEEK, Fred has served as editor-in-chief of both MacUser and A+
magazines and was director of PC Magazine Labs. He is currently a
columnist with Windows Sources, CD Review, and EYE-COM magazines, and is a
commentator on NPR's "All Things Considered."
