Accton Technology Corporation Joins Fast Ethernet Alliance

Accton's EtherFast-TX Adapters To Be Part of 100BASE-T Technology
Demonstration at NetWorld+Interop

SAN JOSE, California - Accton Technology Corporation today announced that
the company has joined the Fast Ethernet Alliance and will participate in
the 100BASE-Tx technology demonstration the Alliance is sponsoring at
NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas '95 later this month. This demonstration will
mark the first time that Accton has been able to show the interoperability
of its new EtherFastTX 32-bit PCI Fast Ethernet adapter with other 100
Megabit-per-second (Mbps) products.

"We are showing our new EtherFast-TX adapters at NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas
for the first time, so this is the perfect time for us to show our
commitment to the emerging 100 Mbps market by joining the Fast Ethernet
Alliance," said Swan Chen, General Manager of Accton Technology. "The
market has decided that 100BASE-Tx will be the next generation of Ethernet
technology, and we want to show our customers that we are ready with an
adapter technology that not only gives them a migration strategy from
10BASE-T, but a technology that is demonstrably compatible with other
products on the market."

Accton's new EtherFast-TX network adapter features a PCI 32-bit bus master
architecture, and can accommodate either 10BASE-T, 10BASE2, or 100BASE-Tx
Ethernet connections. Support for either 10BASE-T networks or 100BASE-Tx
faster Ethernet networks is done solely through configuration software, so
there are no dip switches or jumpers to set. What's more, the EtherFast-TX
is designed to support Peripheral Components Interconnect (PCI) local bus
computers, so users can get better performance out of their 100BASE-Tx
connections. The PCI local bus architecture matches the bus speed to the
host microprocessor, delivers faster throughput rates on higher-speed
computers such as 80486 and Pentium workstations. By delivering faster CPU
throughput, I/O bottlenecks are eliminated.

Accton will be demonstrating its EtherFast-TX interoperating with other
100BASE-Tx workstations and hubs in Booth 5695, the Fast Ethernet Alliance
booth, at NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas March 27-31. The EtherFast-TX will be
ready for market in the second quarter.

The Fast Ethernet Alliance is made up of various computer network equipment
manufacturers and is dedicated to defining a new 100 Mbps CBMA/CD (Carrier
Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) standard for Fast
Ethernet. The Alliance has already submitted the 100BASE-X and 100BASE-T4
wiring specifications to the Institute for Electrical and Electronic
Engineering (IEEE) for inclusion in the IEEE's new 100BASE-T standard. The
100BASE-T standard is designed to provide 10 times the speed of
conventional 10BASE-T Ethernet technology in a cost-effective way to
accommodate internetworking applications that require greater network
bandwidth.

The Fast Ethernet Alliance now includes 73 member companies. All Alliance
members have demonstrated their expertise in the LAN arena and expressed a
commitment to make technical contributions to the 100BASE-T specification,
and to promote the 100 Mbps specification in the standards arena and the
networking market. The Fast Ethernet Alliance will be demonstrating 100
Mbps interoperability in NetWorld+Interop.

Accton Technology Corporation manufactures workgroup connectivity hardware
and software, including a complete product line for Ethernet applications.
Accton has been ranked as one of the top six manufacturers of Ethernet
adapters by International Data Corporation, and the first Ethernet adapter
vendor to receive ISO-9001 certification. Accton Technology Corporation is
