Accton Introduces the EtherFast-TX 100BASE-T Adapter

New Fast Ethernet Adapter Designed to Provide Migration Strategy from
10BASE-T to 100BASE-TX

March 27, 1995 -- LAS VEGAS, Nevada - At NetWorld+Interop this week, Accton
Technology Corporation will introduce its new 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX card for
the emerging fast Ethernet standard, the EtherFast-TX. The EtherFast-TX
adapter can support either 10BASE-T twisted-pair cable or 100BASE-TX fast
Ethernet on unshielded twisted-pair cable, and it has a 32-bit PCI
architecture for improved performance.

Accton's new EtherFast-TX network adapter can accommodate either
10BASE-T/10BASE2 connections for conventional Ethernet or 100BASE-TX for
fast Ethernet connections. Support for either 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX
Ethernet network speeds is done solely through configuration software, so
there are no dip switches or jumpers to set. On-board LEDs make it easy to
monitor conditions such as busy, link, collision, and data rates.

What's more, the EtherFast-TX is designed to support Peripheral Components
Interconnect (PCI) local bus specifications (revision 2.0), so users can
get better performance out of their 100BASE-TX connections. The PCI local
bus architecture matches the bus speed to the host microprocessor so it
delivers faster throughput rates on higher-speed computers such as 80486
and Pentium workstations.

"Fast Ethernet is rapidly emerging as the next networking standard and it's
our responsibility to give our customers the means to migrate from their
current 10BASE-T installations to 100BASE-TX," said Swan Chen, General
Manager of Accton Technology USA. "We designed this card using the PCI
local bus architecture for high performance and have developed a wide
variety of software system drivers to assure universal compatibility. Our
EtherFast-TX is tangible proof that Accton delivers state-of-the-art
technology that can grow with the needs of our customers."

The EtherFast-TX comes with packet drivers to support a wide variety of
network operating systems. Software drivers are provided for Novell
NetWare 3.x and 4.x, Novell's LAN WorkPlace, Novell's LAN Analyzer,
Microsoft LAN Manager, IBM LAN Support, Digital's PATHWORKS, Sun
Microsystems' PC-NFS, Banyan VINES, IBM TCP/IP for both DOS and OS/2,
Wollongong Pathway Access, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT, Windows '95
(current beta release), FTP Software's PC/TCP, NCSA, and Accton's LanSoft.
Accton has also extended its limited lifetime warranty to the
EtherFast-TX.

Like all Accton network adapters, the EtherFast-TX is manufactured using
advanced VLSI and surface-mount technology. Accton also applies a
stringent 12-point quality control process in manufacturing, the same
process that won Accton ISO 9001 certification. As a result of Accton's
superior manufacturing techniques, the EtherFast-TX can be packaged as a
smaller adapter with fewer components and greater reliability.

The EtherFast-TX is scheduled to begin shipping in the second quarter of
1995. A price for the product had not been established at the time of the
announcement.

Accton Technology Corporation manufactures workgroup connectivity hardware
and software, including a complete product line for Ethernet applications.
Accton has been ranked as one of the top six manufacturers of Ethernet
adapters by International Data Corporation, and the first Ethernet adapter
vendor to receive ISO-9001 certification. Accton Technology Corporation
headquarters is located at 1962 Zanker Road, San Jose, CA 95112, telephone
