ARTISOFT ANNOUNCES UTILITY PACK FOR LANTASTIC NETWORKS

Offers Remote Control, Network Backup, Management and Modem-Sharing
Capabilities

(TUCSON, AZ--Feb. 27, 1995)--Artisoft, Inc. announced today a new utility
package for LANtastic network operating system users. The LANtastic
Utility Pack includes four productivity-enhancing products: Artisoft's
LANtastic Management Services Basic software, ArtiSave Backup software for
minicartridge drives and ArtiCom modem-sharing software as well as the
Windows version of Microcom's award-winning Carbon Copy' remote
communications software. List pricing for this bundle is $349. Shipping is
scheduled to begin immediately.

"This is the first comprehensive utility pack of its kind offered by
Artisoft. It offers small and growing businesses an excellent value by
increasing network productivity, security and functionality," commented
Artisoft Vice President of Sales and Support Joel A. Davis. "It is ideal
for both new and existing LANtastic customers, so they can detect network
problems before they arise, protect their valuable data, easily share
modems and remotely connect to the office network. Customers can then turn
to Artisoft for award-winning, one-stop technical support."

LANtastic Utility Pack Components

The LANtastic Utility Pack is compatible with LANtastic v5.0 and v6.0
networks and consists of four utility products from Artisoft and Microcom,
Inc.:

* The Carbon Copy software is Microcom's remote control program for
Windows-based applications. From a remote location, users can access the
office network to review documents, update spreadsheets, edit reports and
transfer files between the remote PC and the local PC.

The Carbon Copy software contains a new terminal emulator so users can
communicate with services such as CompuServe. It also includes a software
communications gateway enabling users to dial into a common PC and
allowing LAN-based PC users to dial out. The software supports most
popular modems and uses comprehensive security features that include
password protection, automatic callback, screen and keyboard disabling and
event logging.

"The Carbon Copy software is especially effective for value-added resellers
and network administrators to use for remote troubleshooting," continued
Davis. "Resellers and network managers can detect and correct software
problems that they would normally address from the main network site. They
can also effectively support users in branch offices."

Microcom's Carbon Copy software in the LANtastic Utility Pack is licensed
for use only in conjunction with the LANtastic networking operating
system. For a limited time, the LANtastic Utility Pack will include a
coupon for the purchase of the MS-DOS version of the Carbon Copy
software.

* Artisoft's LANtastic Management Services Basic network software offers
easy-to-use management features that support growing LANtastic networks.
Administrators have a real-time monitoring feature that displays, at any
given time, performance information about the entire network including the
level of network traffic. A node discovery feature provides detailed
information about each individual workstation and server on the network.
Preset alarms automatically notify administrators of specific operating
problems, such as a workstation or server going off-line. Administrators
can view the entire network or focus in on one particular node using the
intuitive graphical interface with extensive zoom capabilities.

* Artisoft's ArtiSave Backup software for minicartridge tape drives offers
a comprehensive backup and recovery system for LANtastic networks.
Compatible with the Colorado Memory Systems Jumbo 250 tape drive and the
Mountain Network Solutions TD-250 and SideCar' tape drives, the ArtiSave
software provides a backup solution to any server across the network.
Users can save valuable administration time with the ArtiSave software's
powerful Librarian data management feature. In the event of data loss, the
combination of the ArtiSave software and the Mountain SideCar parallel
port tape drive provides a unique, one-step disaster recovery capability.
An administrator has the ability to take the portable SideCar drive to the
disabled PC and invoke the Rescue command to quickly and completely
restore the data.

* Artisoft's ArtiCom modem-sharing software allows users to cost
effectively share modems, faxes and other communication devices from any
network PC. Users can share up to 32 modems or any bi-directional device
connected to a serial port on Artisoft's LANtastic network or a
third-party NetBIOS network. A built-in terminal emulation program allows
users to access host mainframes, BBSs, and other systems available by
modem without the need to purchase additional communication software.
Users can also benefit from an automatic dialing directory that allows
them to create a list of commonly dialed phone numbers. Security features
include password protection and access time limitations to help ensure the
privacy of users' files. Support for INT14 protocols allows compatibility
with third-party software.

LANtastic Utility Pack Upgrades

For a limited time, users of the LANtastic Utility Pack will receive
special rebate coupons to upgrade at a discount to the LANtastic
Management Services Advanced software and the ArtiSave Backup software for
SCSI-2 tape drives. The advanced version of the LANtastic Management
Services software offers users the same capabilities as the Basic version
as well as hardware/software inventory capabilities, customization
features and more. The ArtiSave Backup software for SCSI-2 drives offers
users the same data protection and backup features as the software for the
minicartridge drives and is also compatible with such digital audio tape
(DAT) drives as the Archive/Conner 4mm and the Hewlett-Packard 4mm.
