IBM PC Company Introduces Select-A-System

SOMERS, N.Y., March 16 . . . IBM today announced Select-a-System -- a
unique, elegantly-designed set-up process that gives customers both OS/2
Warp and DOS/Windows on their PC at no increase in price.

Select-a-System, which will come standard on most IBM desktop and mobile
PCs beginning this month, allows customers to quickly and easily select
the operating environment they want to use by simply clicking an icon.
Customers can even switch back and forth between the two environments.

"Only IBM PCs offer customers this level of choice and flexibility," said
Bruce Claflin, general manager, product and brand management for the IBM
Personal Computer Company.

OS/2 Warp, which has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide in the first
two months, is building tremendous momentum. More and more customers are
asking for OS/2 Warp because it allows them to run both their 16-bit
Windows and 32-bit OS/2 applications in a pre-emptive multitasking
environment. The compact, easy-to-use OS/2 Warp also has impressive new
usability features and comes with a BonusPak of more than a dozen popular
applications, including one-button access to the Internet and Compuserve.

Dealers and business partners will benefit from Select-a-System because it
reduces the number of models they have to carry.

Select-a-System will come standard on all IBM ThinkPad, Aptiva, PC 300 and
PC 700 models that ship with 8 MB of memory.
