PsycLIT or ClinPSYC

Two new NISC DISCs

PsycLIT, compiled by the American Psychological Association (APA), offers
the widest coverage of topics in, and applications of, behavior and
psychology available on CD-ROM. This database provides over 700,000
citations with abstracts drawn from over 1,300 journals in psychology and
the behavioral sciences (1974-present), as well as book and book chapter
coverage (1987-present). All aspects of psychology, plus the behavioral
aspects of education, medicine, sociology, law, management, and other
fields are covered. PsycLIT is the CD-ROM subset of APA's PsycINFO
database, excluding dissertation and technical report records and 1967-74
coverage. About 53,000 citations and abstracts are added each year.
Thousands of ERIC on CD-ROM and Child Abuse and Neglect CD-ROM users will
enjoy using the same ROM-Wright software on these new NISC DISCs. This
NISC DISC is also the least expensive PsycLIT CD-ROM available.

ClinPSYC (1980-present), a subset of PsycLIT, covers international journal
literature on topics of interest to health and mental health
professionals. Over 300,000 records, drawn from journals and other English
and non-English publications, provide valuable information on
psychological aspects of physical and mental disorders and treatment as
well as issues pertaining to health and mental health professional
personnel. Over 24,000 records are added annually.

Automated: the APA thesaurus

PsycLIT and ClinPSYC provide automated searching with the Thesaurus of
Psychological Index Terms, recognized as a world standard for
classification of search terminology in psychology and the behavioral
sciences. With over 5,000 terms, the Thesaurus is the controlled
vocabulary used in PsycLIT and ClinPSYC as well as an essential search
tool.

Hierarchical, permuted, and alphabetical structures, plus the many useful
features of the thesaurus automation on these NISC DISCs, help minimize
the guesswork and wasted steps that are normally part of subject
searching. The Thesaurus is updated regularly to reflect growth and change
in the established vocabulary of psychology and related fields.
