OPTIKA MAPS OUT INFORMATION MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

Integrated Document Management, Workflow and Report Data Key To 1995
Product Plan

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO., March 6, 1995--In front of 250 strategic business
partners, industry luminaries and vendor companies gathered for the
company's Fifth Annual International Partners Conference, The Winner's
Summit 1995, Optika outlined its 1995 product strategy.

Optika made a commitment to delivering world-class document image, workflow
and information management solutions as it revealed plans to provide
complete information management systems, add more server modules for
increased throughput and performance, support Windows NT and OLE 2.0 and
release next-generation COLD.

Ellen Rome, Optika's vice president of marketing, explained that Optika's
product strategy calls for it to be a provider of complete information
management solutions. "With document management and workflow moving
further into mainstream business environments, the need for a company to
integrate all facets of information into a cohesive infrastructure has
also grown. Recognizing this trend, Optika has unfolded a product strategy
that will enable companies to build a complete information system with
integrated imaging, workflow and COLD."

Integrated Information Systems

Optika has pledged to provide companies with comprehensive information
management systems. To that end, Optika announced plans to completely
integrate its imaging, COLD and workflow products, making it among the
first vendors to provide an integrated product suite. Optika is completing
its design for a common user interface and writing the necessary code to
allow its products to be presented to users as a whole solution.

Scalable Server Solution Allows Expanded Market Focus

Although the company's software solutions are currently installed in sites
that scan in excess of 125,000 pages per day and support more than 1,000
retrieval nodes, Optika is mainly positioned in the document management
mid-market. At the 1995 Winner's Summit, Optika revealed plans to further
enhance its software for expansion into applications that can address
enterprise-wide requirements.

Optika's client/server approach to document management is the key to its
expansion strategy. Using server software as its foundation, the company
will provide end-users with a modular, building-block approach. This will
enable Optika to provide a more scalable system that fits a company's
business process and information management needs regardless of company
size.

"We've always been able to provide enterprise-wide solutions for
high-volume, production-oriented document management applications. Our
expanded server foundation ensures that we can extend the reach of those
applications to the very pinnacle of the high-end of the integrated
information management marketplace with products that insure extremely
high throughput, storage and retrieval," said Rome.

New server modules to watch out for include real-time image backup, image
enhancement, voice, OCR and job-process control servers. Optika will
advocate a mirrored-server concept for redundancy and disaster recovery
features. Optika also continues its goal to develop the industry's most
efficient client/server processing scheme. "Our server strategy allows
companies to push the envelope with respect to speed and throughput,
thereby, allowing us to target very large system and high-performance
applications," stated Rome.

Pledges Commitment to Windows NT

Optika will continue its work to integrate its software with legacy
systems, client systems and network operating software. The company also
announced its intent to fully support the Windows NT operating environment
and pledged its commitment to incorporating OLE 2.0 into all future
software offerings.

Optika is expanding its hierarchical storage management solution whereby
its software is media independent, allowing users to store images on their
choice of platforms, including optical, magnetic or CD-ROM. The company
will also look to improved image quality, cleaning up images for better
viewing and considerably reducing file sizes.

Next-Generation COLD

Optika's next-generation COLD solution, FPreport, will feature true
integration between images and COLD files. Optika will soon announce this
on-line report management system which indexes, retrieves and stores
computer-generated reports. FPreport will feature enhanced searching
functions and a redesigned graphical interface. It will also feature an
API toolkit for creating custom COLD applications.

Vertical Solutions Focus

Optika announced that it will concentrate on meeting the needs of vertical
industries with products specifically designed to take into account the
changing requirements of these markets. The company's first step in this
direction was the formation of a new business unit dedicated to better
meet the needs of the healthcare market.

"Optika's goal is to provide vertical market applications with a focused,
yet comprehensive, document management and workflow system; one that is
specifically targeted at vertical market organizations, allowing them to
streamline operations and improve productivity," said Rome.

Entry-Level Product Designed to Meet Needs of the Channel

Optika currently supports one of the most extensive reseller/systems
integrator networks in the document management industry. These resellers
install a wide range of information management solutions -- from
entry-level to enterprise wide. To meet the needs of its business partners
installing systems at the entry-level, Optika recently introduced Frequent
Filer version 3.0, a document imaging system that is ideal for
applications at this end of the market. Optika will continue its support
of the growing entry-level marketplace and announced plans to enhance and
refine its product here.
