PC CARD Industry Comes Together to Improve Compatibility

Sunnyvale, Calif., USA (March 17, 1995) -- From April 11 to 13, 1995, the
PC Card industry will come together in a concerted effort to improve the
interoperability of PC Card-based products. On these dates, PCMCIA
(Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) will hold the
first in a series of PC Card Fest interoperability workshops at the Crown
Sterling Suites in Burlingame, California.

Industry experts agree that PC Card compatibility is rapidly improving.
With PC Card Fest, PCMCIA continues to drive an industry-wide cooperative
effort toward improving compatibility through technical standardization.

"The Card Fest provides an opportunity to test card interoperability among
current production and prototype products, ultimately ensuring end-users
that their high levels of expectation for simple 'plus and play' operation
will be met," said Bill Lempesis, PCMCIA's executive director.

The PC Card Fest is an engineering-driven event, modeled after similar
events run by the Plug-and-Play Association and Microsoft Corporation. The
PC Card Fest is organized under the Implementations Forum, the committee
chartered with promoting new applications for PC Cards and improving
compatibility. "This event provides an efficient framework to address the
unique issues facing PC Card and host designers," said Daniel Sternglass
of Databook, Inc., chairman of the Implementations Forum Committee.

Participation in PC Card Fest is open to any company that manufacturers PC
Card-related products, including cards, computer systems, card-aware
software, development tools and add-on peripherals. To register for PC
Card Fest, or to get more information, please call PCMCIA Headquarters at
408-720-0107.
