Microsoft Press Introduces QuickCards for Microsoft Desktop Applications

Integrated On-Screen Help Tool Gives Users Fast, Easy Answers While They
Work

Redmond, Wash--Feb. 13, 1995--For computer users who don't want or don't
need the rigorous detail or the disk space requirements of a full-blown
online help system, Microsoft Press introduces QuickCards the
revolutionary on-screen support tool developed by Usability Sciences
Corporation. QuickCards are available from Microsoft Press for use with
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Access,
and Microsoft Office 4.3. In addition. every QuickCards package comes with
a free copy of QuickCards for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

One of the most significant benefits of QuickCards is the speed with which
they get a user up and running. New and intermediate users typically
cannot spend a lot of time reading documentation, searching help, taking
tutorials, or attending costly and time-consuming classroom training when
they want to get a task completed quickly. They want step-by-step
instructions--on the screen--that clearly tell them how to perform the
task they want to do. That's exactly what QuickCards provide.

QuickCards are easy to use. With the click of a button on the title bar,
users at all levels of expertise can get concise, immediate answers to
their questions. Topic-specific information stays on the screen, allowing
users to follow the step-by-step instructions as they work. Then, just as
easily, QuickCards can be rolled up or moved out of the way--ready to
assist at any time. There's no loss of performance and no learning curve.

In a laptop configuration or in any situation in which conserving disk
space is a priority, QuickCards can replace the traditional Help facility
in a Windows-based application. QuickCards put minimal strain on a
computer, requiring only an 80286 or higher microprocessor, a 3.5-inch
disk drive, and at least 1 MB of disk space. For enterprise-wide computing
environments, QuickCards provide a fast, flexible, and integrated
alternative to traditional support resources and online help systems. This
proven technology provides a consistent look and feel for users. And with
the Microsoft Press QuickCards Development Kit, independent software
vendors and corporate developers can custom build QuickCards for their own
Windows-based applications.
