SAN JOSE, Calif. -- March 13, 1995 -- S-MOS Systems, a corporate affiliate
of Seiko-Epson, is now alternate sourcing the SCP82365 PC CARD Interface
Controller (PCIC) that is pin-compatible with Intels 82365SL PCIC to take
advantage of the latters intent to discontinue making this part.

This new IC is part of the companys growing list of card products including
CARDIO, SRAM and Flash memory cards.

The single chip interface controller connects the PCMCIA 2.0/JEIDA 4.1
interface to a computers 8- or 16-bit external system bus (e.g., the ExCA
implementation of the ISA bus).

The SCP82365 can support from two to eight PCMCIA 2.0/JEIDA 4.1, 68-pin
standard PC Card sockets.

This device is completely compatible with the system bus timing of the
Intel 386SL Microprocessor Superset family and provides direct support for
most integrated EISA/ISA chipsets. The -365 can also be configured to
support other architectures.

The SCP82365 offers several power management functions including individual
socket power control and PCMCIA card insertion and removal. It also saves
power during periods of user or system inactivity and has a controlled
chip power down input, plus an I/O controller with two serial ports, and a
parallel port. It will also support 3.3-volt suspend coupled with modem
ring resume detection.

There is no need for configuration jumpers as the -365 supports address
mapping for PCMCIA 2.0/JEIDA 4.1 PC memory cards and address windowing for
I/O cards.

Availability is now. Pricing is less than $13 in quantities of 1000.
Evaluation kits are also available.
