Spincraft Makes Remote Data Acquisition with LabVIEW for Windows Easy

Creating remote data acquisition with LabVIEW for Windows is easier with
two new products from Spincraft Engineering - DAQ Remote Unit (DAQ-R/U), a
rugged enclosure for remote data acquisition, and LabNET, a connectivity
software toolkit for Windows-based LabVIEW.

DAQ-R/U is a family of low-profile, rugged enclosures that mount into a
standard 19 in. equipment rack. Each DAQ-R/U comes application-ready with
a i486DX processor single-board computer, an Ethernet network board, 16MB
RAM, a 200MB hard drive, a floppy drive, and an optional PCMCIA drive.
DAQ-R/U enclosures have one, two, or three slots available for DAQ
boards.

After the user selects a National Instruments AT DAQ board, Spincraft
Engineering installs and configures it for network operations. The DAQ-R/U
is also ideal for networking to a remote SCXI chassis.

The LabNET connectivity software toolkit gives easy access for
Windows-based LabVIEW users. The LabNET toolkit consists of the LabNET
Server and LabNET Client software. The LabNET Server is preloaded into a
pre-configured DAQ-R/U chassis and performs remote DAQ operations, while
LabNET Client software consists of NET VIs that facilitate communication
to the DAQ-R/U. NET VIs are installed in the LabVIEW Diagram Functions
Menu as LabNET.

LabNET VIs work similarly to existing DAQ VIs, with the added feature of
network connectivity to DAQ R/U. The user simply selects LabNET VIs from
the Diagram Functions Menu, and drops them into the current application.
The user can then easily incorporate remote DAQ operations.
