WINDOWS ACCESS FOR BLIND COMPUTER USERS

January 31, 1995 -- Mountain View, CA--- TeleSensory Corporation today
announced the first shipments of ScreenPower for Windows. SPWin provides
blind people with flexible and powerful access to Microsoft Windows
applications.

With the growing popularity of Microsoft Windows, many blind computer users
and programmers have been frustrated by the difficulty of using Window's
Graphical User Interface (GUI). For blind users, information must
generally be communicated in a character-oriented form, whether by braille
or synthetic speech. The icons, overlapping windows, freeform information
display, and other graphical attributes of Windows screens have been a
significant barrier to blind people using computers effectively.

TeleSensory's approach to Windows is unique. ScreenPower for Windows
clearly identifies each icon, button, scroll bar, and command element and
makes them easy to find and operate. This extremely powerful method of
translating graphics into useable information for blind people has been in
Beta test for more than six months, to the enthusiastic reaction of blind
user$. According to Dave Mansoir, a blind programmer, "ScreenPower for
Windows allows me to get to icons and programs quickly even if they are
not on the screen."

ScreenPower for Windows builds a tree of information for the user to
explore. Elements in the tree are identified by function, rather than by
how they look in a literal sense. This unique approach makes it possible
for blind users to quickly and easily navigate the screen without access
to a mouse, since keys on the numeric keypad emulate mouse functions. A
blind user can begin using Windows and its application programs after a
modest training program.

SPWin is the only Windows-access program for blind people which provides a
comprehensive integrated approach for both speech and braille. For users
who prefer one or the other, speech- or Braille-only versions are also
provided. SPWin is compatible with over 30 speech synthesizers such as
DECTalk, and TeleSensory's powerful line of refreshable braille devices
including PowerBraille 40, Navigator 80 and the David 486 laptop braille
computer.

SPWin is available for immediate shipment at a price of $995, FOB Mountain.
