WATERS CORPORATION SELECTS DIGITAL PCs TO SELL WITH ITS CHROMATOGRAPHY
SOFTWARE PRODUCTS

MAYNARD, Mass. -- March 13, 1995 -- Digital Equipment Corporation today
announced that Waters Corporation has chosen Digital personal computers as
its primary microcomputer platform for its Millennium family of products.
For the first time, Waters is packaging its chromatography software with
PCs and providing worldwide support from both Waters and Digital. Waters
has sold its software for Digital VAX computers since 1987.

Companies in areas such as pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, and
food and beverage industries rely on Waters' analytical instrumentation
for manufacturing and quality control operations.

Millennium software can be used in standalone PCs or networked,
client/server environments providing the flexibility needed to meet
customer requirements. Millennium features a Windows-based interface to
data stored on an Oracle database server. Digital Venturis 486-based PCs
and Digital Celebris Pentium class systems are available with the
Millennium 2010 Chromatography Manager. Servers include Digital Prioris XL
590, VAX/OpenVMS, and Alpha/OpenVMS systems for the Millennium 2020
Client/Server Networks.

Greg Murphy, director, worldwide data products at Waters Corporation said:
"Digital's experience with OEM manufacturers and its ability to maintain
product consistency from one revision to the next are important. Our
customers are able to maintain a state of validation wherever it is
needed, which is critical to the chromatography Industry."

In addition to the range of Digital hardware options, users of Millenium
software will benefit from Digital's PATHWORKS networking software. It
ties together PCs and servers into an enterprise-wide system for the rapid
distribution of data and the timely analysis of that data. "With the
addition of Digital PCs, Millennium customers can now take advantage of
the breadth and depth of computers, software, and support offered by this
partnership with Waters," explains Tony Amico, director, channels
marketing, Digital's Personal Computer Business Unit.

Murphy adds, "Industry regulations make it imperative that data be
available at anytime and that's why prompt field service wherever it is
needed is included as a critical part of this relationship. Digital has an
established reputation for worldwide support."

Waters is the industry leader in the $1.4 billion worldwide industry for
high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analytical instruments and
columns. The Company produces a range of instruments, information
management systems, and chromatography chemistry products for HPLC and
related applications.

The Company was founded in 1958. Worldwide headquarters is in Milford,
Massachusetts.

Digital Equipment Corporation is the world's leader in open client/server
solutions from personal computing to integrated worldwide information
systems. Digital's scalable Alpha platforms, storage, networking, software
and services, together with industry- focused solutions from business
partners, help organizations compete and win in today's global
