ANDYNE GQL CROSSTABS EXTENSION NOW AVAILABLE

"It's the best crosstab tool I've ever used" -- J. K. Wight, Senior Staff
Consultant, Bull Information Systems

May 8, 1995 -- Kingston, ON, Canada -- Andyne Computing Limited announced
today that their latest product, the Andyne GQL Crosstabs Extension, is
now generally available. Until July 31, Andyne is offering GQL Crosstabs
for both Windows and Macintosh for the introductory price of $99
(regularly $199). The new Crosstabs extension integrates seamlessly with
Andyne GQL 3.3 and higher. GQL is Andyne's decision support application
for relational data sources.

GQL Crosstabs gives business people the power to analyze transactional data
in multidimensional views. GQL Crosstabs lets users see the relationships
between multiple sets of data -- all in one report, all within Andyne GQL.
Now results from GQL queries can be turned into crosstabular reports with
the click of a mouse. GQL Crosstabs' drag-and-drop facility lets users
"slice and dice" their data -- dragging dimensions to the GQL Crosstabs
stack lets them filter out excess data for pinpoint analysis. And GQL
Crosstabs' flexible formatting options help end-users create crosstab
reports with impact.

"The Andyne GQL Crosstabs Extension gives business users a new perspective
on their data -- perhaps comparing sales of multiple products, analyzing
the performance of regional sales staff, and looking for quarterly or
annual trends," said A. Cameron Thompson, Andyne President and C.E.O.
"With Andyne's Open GQL architecture, GQL Report Extensions allow users to
custom-build the decision support system that's just right for their
business needs."

GQL is a powerfully simple decision support application for accessing
transaction-level data on relational data sources. With GQL, there are no
character-based pick lists posing as a graphical interface, no need to
remember obscure database names or join conditions, no need to piece
together some pseudo-SQL syntax -- no need to understand SQL at all. GQL
is an intuitive, visual solution that makes business sense. It provides an
open interface for add-on extensions, like Crosstabs, so that end-users
can choose the reporting capability they need. Whether users want columnar
reports, charts and graphs, crosstab reports, or mailing labels, GQL's
Report Extensions represent the quickest route between the database and
the desktop.

GQL offers what industry analysts call a Managed Query Environment (MQE).
Andyne pioneered MQE, which synchronizes IS expertise and end-user
freedom. MQE provides enterprise-wide consistency and security harmonized
with decision makers' needs for flexibility and timely analysis and
reporting.

At Bull Information Systems of Phoenix, Arizona, a worldwide provider of
technology solutions using a wide variety of systems, software, and
services, GQL Crosstabs has been beta-tested for several weeks. The Bull
Relational Assist Team (BRAT) is a group of highly motivated and trained
individuals dedicated to helping customers implement the finest quality
relational business solutions. The BRAT uses GQL and GQL Crosstabs to
access and report data found in RDBMSs like CA-Ingres, Oracle, Informix,
and Teradata. "The GQL Crosstabs Extension knocks the socks off anything
I've seen; in fact, the beta version is so solid and robust, I've been
using it to demonstrate at customer sites," said J.K. Wight, Senior Staff
Consultant, Bull Information Systems. "I just think it's the slickest,
easiest, and quickest crosstab facility in a GUI interface on the market
today."

By simply selecting the Crosstab command from the menu of report styles,
the power of sophisticated data reporting is at end-users' fingertips:

Data Pivoting

A dimension can be dragged to another position along a table's horizontal
or vertical axis to reorganize the view of the data. With a few clicks of
the mouse, users can turn a report showing sales totals by region into one
summarizing sales by product.

Filtering

GQL Crosstabs' paging facility is more than just a filter. Multiple
dimensions can be dragged and dropped onto the filtering stack for precise
control of the information in each view. Navigating these multiple pages
is as simple as using pop-up menus.

Calculations

Users can add automatic calculations to crosstabular reports without
re-querying the database. Calculations can be performed on individual
dimensions for total, count, minimum, maximum, average, and standard
deviation (sample and population).

Cell formatting

Users can control the font, size, and style of text and adjust column
width, row height, cell borders, and shading. They can also change the
formatting of numbers and dates -- even after the data has been loaded
from a GQL results set. Using the toolbar speeds up the time it takes to
execute frequently used commands.

Page formatting

GQL Crosstabs permits automatic and user-defined headers, footers, titles,
and labels. Users can save the report specifications they create and use
them as templates for other crosstabular reports. Data can be copied to
the Clipboard in tab-delimited format.

Other GQL Report Extensions:

GQL Labels -- allows users to produce a wide range of standard Avery labels
as well as their own custom labels. Distributed free with GQL/User and
GQL/Update.

GQL Charts -- allows users to produce a variety of charts and graphs with
almost unlimited formatting capability. Generally available in calendar Q2
'95.

GQL HyperCube -- connects GQL to Andyne PaBLO(R), enabling summarization
and multidimensional analysis of transaction-level data.
