                         Atomic News for May, 1995

Watch Us Grow - Even More!

May 1 was the first day for Atomic's newest employee, Eric Young. Eric has
been with us as a contractor since 1992. He has researched and designed 5
out of the 6 games we have done and is now working on W@W: America Invades
and Beyond Squad Leader. We are fortunate to have Eric and it looks like
he's going to be with us for some time to come.

Beyond Squad Leader

Just back from E3, and BSL is looking more and more like a winner! The
program was well received by show goers and was labeled by one magazine as
the "best looking game at the show"! We have now included the tanks,
which can independently target multiple enemy teams at once - one for each
weapon on the tank. Here's a hint: If the other guy has armor and you
don't - RUN! Its pretty devastating to loose your armor support and have
his tanks moving unrestricted. Of course, if its the other way
around....

Also, the Win95 version is now functional. We have been working to make
the code easily portable between the Mac and the PC and that has paid off.
We're still a few weeks away from PC Alpha testing.

World At War: America Invades

America Invades has begun Alpha testing on both the Mac and PC. We have
all 7 of the scenarios in and functioning, including a special "Operation:
Cobra" scenario which details the initial phases of Allied breakout from
Normandy. In case you haven't heard of this, the latest in the World at
War series, America Invades covers the D-Day landings at Utah and Omaha
Beach, and features several well-known combat units, including the
American 82nd and 101st Airborne divisions, the American 1st Infantry
Division (aka "The Big Red One"), and the German Panzer Lehr Armored
Division and the 2nd SS Panzergrenadier Division. America Invades boasts
new graphics, expanded hardware support, and upgraded combat, AI, and
logistics routines. If you've never tried World at War, this is the one
to get!

Patches

The Operation Crusader and Stalingrad patches are in final testing for both
Mac and PC. By far the biggest thing these patches address is a problem
with play by email between Macs and PCs. These should be available around
the second week in June.

Internet

Atomic has been operating 2 mailing lists for some time now; one is for
Operation Crusader and one is for Stalingrad. We recently started echoing
these lists to our World Wide Web page. This eases the burden on our
server and gives our users a cleaner, heirarchial interface to the
messages. Take a look. They're on our web site at www.atomic.com.

That's about it for this month's news. See you next month!
