COMPUSERVECD LINKS SUBSCRIBERS TO THE WEB
Award-winning CD provides new functionality

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 16, 1995 -- CompuServeCD, the world's first and only
multimedia companion to an online information service, now offers another
"first" -- direct hotlinks to the Internet's World Wide Web.

The next Windows edition issue, due out later this month, features
single-click access to topical sites on both the CompuServe Information
Service and the Web. For example, music samples by Annie Lennox and Jacky
Terrasson will feature direct links to their Web sites, as will a movie
preview for Bruce Willis' "Die Hard With a Vengeance."

This seamless access is made possible by CompuServe's NetLauncher Internet
access software. CompuServe's World Wide Web access and the NetLauncher
browser software were announced April 10. A copy of NetLauncher included
in this issue of CompuServeCD is installed automatically when the CD is
started. So in addition to using the CD hotlinks, subscribers can use
NetLauncher separately to traverse the entire Web at their leisure.
Because CompuServeCD uses the extensive worldwide CompuServe network to
access the Web, members located anywhere in the world have quick Internet
access with NetLauncher, often using a local telephone connection.

"This is really slick and brings our members a whole new experience," said
CompuServe Vice President, Business Development Dave Eastburn.
"CompuServeCD has been an exciting dimension of our information service,
offering fresh new content you can't get anywhere else. Now the World Wide
Web hotlinks add even more.

Since its launch in May 1994, CompuServeCD has led the way in innovation.
Media extensions that bridge the online and offline worlds give
subscribers the best of both environments in a hybrid technology not
available with any other online service. Rich multimedia content that is
slow to download over telephone lines is available on the CD, and
complementary up-to-the-minute information is found online.

CompuServeCD was recently honored with a Gold Award in the 1995 NewMedia
INVISION Awards. Competing against more than 850 titles, CompuServeCD was
a finalist in three of the five categories it entered. With a subscription
price of $5.95 per issue (plus shipping), CompuServeCD has a paid
circulation of about 70,000. The May issue's featured topic is "Big Fun,"
with a plethora of shareware, utilities and games included on the CD.

The CompuServe Information Service continues to be the world's most
successful and most popular online service, with millions of members who
access the service through more than three million active, paying
accounts. CompuServe is also the only worldwide information service,
providing access to members in more than 150 countries. The undisputed
industry leader in innovation, the service offers global e-mail, the
industry's first CD-ROM supplement, libraries of free software, 28.8 kbps
access and worldwide Internet services. CompuServe is recognized globally
for its international membership and diverse content. For a free
introductory CompuServe membership, call 800-524-3388 and ask for
representative number 664, or access CompuServe's home page on the World
Wide Web (http://www.compuserve.com).

CompuServe's online international newsstand features more than 200 general
interest and niche publications, dozens of syndicated columnists and more
than 900 entertainment, hobby, games and personal computer forums. For a
$9.95 monthly fee, members have unlimited access to more than 120 services
including daily worldwide news, weather and sports reports and three free
hours of Internet access. In addition to the CompuServe Information
Service, CompuServe offers networking, electronic mail and business
information services to major corporations worldwide.

CompuServe is an H&R Block (NYSE: HRB) company.
