COMPAQ TAKES CENTER STAGE AT PC EXPO '95 -- ECKHARD PFEIFFER TO DELIVER THE
KEYNOTE ADDRESS

HOUSTON, May 23, 1995 -- Taking center stage at PC Expo '95, Compaq
Computer Corporation's (NYSE: CPQ) president and chief executive officer,
Eckhard Pfeiffer, will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, June 20 at
9:00 a.m.(EST), discussing the PC's rapid transformation into not only an
indispensable, but also a universal tool for home and business users.
Pfeiffer will look to the year 2000 and forecast how PC technology is
likely to progress and describe several of the exciting business and
social consequences of the PC's continuing revolution.

At PC Expo, Compaq will exhibit a broad range of recently introduced
products -- including the new ProLiant 4500 announced yesterday -- in its
newly designed booth at PC Expo, which runs June 20 - 22 at the Jacob K.
Javits Convention Center in New York City.

"PC Expo provides Compaq with the opportunity to demonstrate a complete
solution to our customers' needs through the unique Intelligent
Manageability features on our desktop and server products," said Ross
Cooley, senior vice president and general manager of North America.
"Compaq's delivery of its new ProLinea and Deskpro products provides new
capabilities, increased ease-of-use, and a safe, easy transition to
protect our customers' investments."

"As Microsoft's lead system partner for the upcoming release of Windows 95,
Compaq is committed to informing customers of the benefits to migrating to
the new software. Visitors to Compaq's PC Expo booth will be able to
preview Windows 95 on Compaq products, giving them a look at the superb
performance this new software will deliver on Compaq's newest products
when announced later this year," Cooley added.

Compaq's booth will portray the company's new motif and house technology
demonstrations, including virtual reality presentations, video
conferencing and Compaq's extensive line of innovative products.

Compaq's unparalleled range of PCs will be displayed in the booth,
including: the new line of Deskpro and ProLinea desktop computers; the
ProLiant application server; the LTE Elite and Contura notebook PCs; and
the Compaq Presario family of multimedia PCs for the home and home office.
Intelligent Manageability and New Desktops on Display

Among the showcased products will be Compaq's new Deskpro and ProLinea
models which provide unprecedented levels of high performance and
manageability for commercial networked PC environments while delivering
reduced cost of ownership. The new ProLinea models are value-oriented
desktop PCs for stand-alone applications that deliver much greater
performance and features at a lower price. The new Deskpros include
integrated network interface controllers and revolutionary desktop
management tools, as well as features collectively called Intelligent
Manageability.

The new strategy to deliver Intelligent Manageability to networked desktop
PCs differentiates Compaq from its competitors by adding emphasis to
network management and cost-of-ownership while continuing to push the
envelope in PC performance and value. Breakthrough desktop management
tools and features bring some of Compaq's famous server management
technology to the desktop, resulting in a dramatically reduced total cost
of PC ownership and more productive users through better management,
serviceability and fault prediction.

Windows 95 Demonstrations

Compaq is designated by Microsoft as the lead system partner for Windows
95, which illustrates the committed, ongoing partnership between the two
companies to jointly develop and offer products that provide the best
value and performance available in today's PC environment. Compaq will
display a number of products running Windows 95 in its PC Expo booth. The
Windows 95 displays will allow attendees to view firsthand the
compatibility and quality of Compaq and Microsoft products. Windows 95,
which is slated to be released later this year, enhances the performance
of Compaq products and makes them easier to use, more powerful, and more
enjoyable.

Several Compaq desktop PCs will be shown with Windows 95 to illustrate the
powerful 32-bit preemptive multitasking features and the benefits of the
new intuitive interface.

Other Products

In addition to Compaq's full line of desktop, notebook and server products
being displayed throughout the booth, Compaq will also showcase several
leading-edge technology demonstrations and new products.

The Compaq LTE Elite high-performance notebooks will be used to demonstrate
the effortless docking abilities of the notebook PC with the SmartStation
