Coriolis Group Announces Spectacular Multimedia Journey into the Grand
Canyon

April 15, 1995--Scottsdale, AZ--Grab your trail mix and hiking boots, and
prepare yourself for the multimedia experience of a lifetime! The Coriolis
Group, Inc. today announced the development of Explore the Grand Canyon,
an interactive multimedia CD-ROM that will allow you to explore the beauty
and mystery of the Grand Canyon from your own PC. This innovative product,
created by Media Terra of Phoenix, will be published by The Coriolis Group
in early summer and featured at the American Booksellers Association (ABA)
convention in June. It combines stunning graphics and beautiful
photography, thrilling sounds and music, exciting video, and the finest
writing into the most accessible presentation ever produced on this
spectacular work of nature. We're bringing the Grand Canyon to you!

"This CD-ROM represents the definitive multimedia work on the Grand
Canyon," stated Keith Weiskamp, Publisher and CEO of The Coriolis Group.
"Because Explore the Grand Canyon has been in development for over three
years, we've had the chance to refine all of the content and add such
unique features as an Internet/World Wide Web connection to help make this
CD-ROM one of the most interactive and in-depth products on the market."

Explore the Grand Canyon is a truly interactive CD-ROM that lets you create
your own ultimate adventure. Colorful graphic icons mark points of
interest on the canyon walls, rims, plateaus, and river banks. These
"hotspots" will activate amazing interactive presentations that detail all
aspects of the canyon's natural and human history. To view a photograph,
you'll travel to the vantage point from which it was taken. Some points of
interest form "trails" that unfold into stories as you travel from one
location to the next, retracing the steps of the many explorers during
their challenging and dangerous historical expeditions along precipitous
cliffs and through roaring rapids.

With the aid of spectacular graphics, modern and historical photographs,
real-time video, and time-lapse film, you'll float down the mighty
Colorado River, visiting the campsites of daring explorers, where voice
artists will re-create the events of the times from readings of historical
diaries and personal correspondence. Graphic overlays are used throughout
to illuminate geology, climate, zoology, botany, archeology, artistic
interpretation, and the river itself. Video clips highlight the canyon' s
most striking features, including the shimmering spillways of Havasu
Creek, kayaks bounding over the waves of giant rapids, and shadows
creeping up the canyon walls at sunset. Behind every picture, video clip,
and map, you'll find in-depth writing by some of the most important
contributors in their fields.

Explore the Grand Canyon features a unique Explorer interface that lets
users experience the Grand Canyon in several different ways, from taking a
3-D walk-through of the canyon and rafting down the awesome Colorado
River, to navigating every mile of the Grand Canyon using highly detailed
interactive maps. All of the different views of the Grand Canyon are
linked together using an innovative Windows "Explorer" hypermedia engine
custom-developed for this unique CD-ROM.

Instead of providing the typical "canned" multimedia interface with
clickable buttons to view text, play sounds, or begin video clips and
animation, Explore the Grand Canyon presents a unique Explorer interface
that lets you easily wander and discover fascinating places on your own,
as though you were there. As in an exciting adventure game, you can
explore the labyrinth of the Grand Canyon by navigating with the Explorer
bar and using 3-D views and maps. But instead of finding passageways and
puzzles, around each corner will be amazing surprises for your eyes, ears,
and mind.

Explore the Grand Canyon also includes NetSeeker, an innovative new
technology created by The Coriolis Group. With NetSeeker, users of the
CD-ROM can connect to the Internet at any time to access new content such
as video clips and photographs and have the content automatically
incorporated into the dynamic Grand Canyon multimedia software. That means
Explore the Grand Canyon will never go out-of-date! The unique multimedia
engine developed for the Grand Canyon CD-ROM makes the dynamic Internet
connection as simple as a mouse click.

Some of the key features of Explore the Grand Canyon include:

* An interactive, accurate 3-D model of the Grand Canyon based on the
U.S. Geological Survey's Digital Elevation Model
. An amazing 180-mile river journey from Lee's Ferry to Whitmore Wash,
which features the canyon's most spectacular sights and wild rapids
* Interactive topographical maps presenting every square mile of the
canyon to help you navigate in, through, and around the Grand Canyon
* Over 3,000 photographs from master photographers taken from hundreds
  of vantage points
* Hundreds of never-before-seen photographs and video clips of the
canyon . Over 2 1/2 hours of narration, original music, and sounds
  of the canyon
* Amazing artwork of the Grand Canyon from noted collections,
including the Santa Fe Railroad collection
* Text and descriptions of the Grand Canyon written by noted Canyon
  experts
. A World Wide Web/Internet connection that allows you to
interactively receive updated information--from photographs to video
to text--on the Grand Canyon with the click of a button

"Our unique way of presenting text and visual content in a multimedia
product will really make Explore the Grand Canyon stand out from the pack
of hastily developed multimedia," stated Scott Jarol, president of Media
Terra and visionary developer behind this new CD-ROM. "Unfortunately, most
multimedia products on the market are nothing more than 'point and click'
slide shows that allow the user only a few minutes or hours of
entertainment. We've designed Explore the Grand Canyon using an entirely
different exploration model of what we think will be the promising future
of multimedia. This gives the user the feeling that he or she is taking
part in amazing adventure, with incredible depth at every turn."

So wipe the dust off that old canteen and prepare yourself for the
experience of a lifetime: Explore the Grand Canyon!
