DELL & 3Com ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

Dell and 3Com Preview Marketing, Sales and Technology Sharing at Dell's
Technology Briefing

NEW YORK, March 20, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL) and
3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS) today announced a comprehensive strategic
alliance through which they will integrate 3Com networking products with
Dell's computer products to provide networked system solutions to Dell's
customers in North America, Europe and the Far East.

The alliance between Dell -- the world's leading direct marketer of
personal computers and 3COM - the leader in PC networking products --
marks an aggressive move to provide customers with complete, integrated
network solutions. Dell will market 3Com's products through its extensive
corporate sales force and DellWare division, and provide pre and
post-sales support for 3Com products.

Dell and 3Com will work towards the joint development, integration and
compatibility testing of products to ensure open standards are maintained
across all their product lines and to optimize how new products work
together. The alliance will extend to sharing marketing and industry
information, product directions and the alignment of technology
strategies.

"Both Dell and 3Com are acknowledged industry leaders in open architecture
networking. While many vendors continue to provide integrated networking
tied to their own proprietary system architectures, Dell and 3Com will
provide customers with integrated, compatible network functionality on
desktop, mobile and server systems," said Michael S. Dell, chairman and
chief executive officer, Dell Computer Corporation.

"3Com's product breadth, capabilities and experience in data networking
uniquely position the company to be a strategic supplier to Dell of a
complete line of workgroup, remote office and personal office systems,"
said Eric Benhamou, 3Com's chairman and CEO. "We offer market-leading
network interface cards, built with our Parallel Tasking technology and
custom-designed Ethernet ASICs. We also provide the industry-leading
SuperStack network systems, which include stackable hubs, boundary routers
and remote access servers."

Through its build-to-order model, Dell will provide customized integration
of 3Com network interface cards and other technology at the time of
manufacture, greatly simplifying the process of buying and installing
network-ready systems. This approach ensures customers of faster
transitions to new technology and guaranteed compatibility.

The program is being rolled out in several phases, the first of which has
already begun with 3Com's network interface cards installed as "network
ready" in Dell PCs as part of the Dell ReadyWare program. The next phase
will be to deliver workgroup systems as a complete connectivity solution
to Dell accounts. Future solutions will encompass personal office systems
that offer remote connectivity for desktops and mobile systems.

Dell's alliance with 3Com will increase the scope of its networking
solutions, providing corporate customers with a single point of
accountability for all their networked systems requirements -- from
comprehensive pre- and post-sales support to installation and training.
