DELL REDUCES PRICES ON DELL DIMENSION PRODUCT LINE, ADDS TO SOFTWARE
SUPPORT SERVICES

AUSTIN, Texas, May 4, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL)
today announced that it has reduced prices on its line of Dell Dimension
PCs by an average of (USD) $125 - $150. Dell said it was able to make the
pricing move because its direct, build-to-order business model allows it
quickly to pass along component cost savings to customers.

"Our business model makes it possible for us to have compelling prices, and
at the same time, be early or first to market with the latest
technologies," said Ben Bentzin, director of marketing for Dell Direct.
"It is important for us to work aggressively on each of these fronts to
offer the kind of value that is meaningful to customers."

Price reductions vary by system configuration. For example, the Dell
Dimension XPS P120c system configured as an office workstation, which was
$3,149 is now priced at $2,999. The configuration includes 16 megabytes
(MB) of extended data output (EDO), a 256-kilobyte pipeline burst cache, a
1 gigabyte hard disk drive, a 15-inch color monitor, a 64-bit peripheral
component interconnect (PCI) 1MB dynamic random access memory video card,
a quad-speed CD ROM, installed MS-Office 4.3 and MS-Bookshelf. A listing
of several popular system configurations and prices is attached.

Various systems in the Dell Dimension product family have earned numerous
honors from the industry's leading publications, such as PC/COMPUTING's
"MVP" award, PC WORLD's "Best Buy" and PC MAGAZINE's "Editor's Choice"
award.

In related news, Dell announced today it has begun fee-based software
telephone support for MS-DOS, Windows, and Windows for Workgroups programs
sold bundled with Dell systems. Effective immediately, U.S. customers who
purchase Dell systems can obtain software support after an initial
complimentary 30-day startup period by paying a fee of $29 per call by
credit card. Dell plans to provide a similar software support offering for
Windows 95 upon its expected release later this year.

Dell says that customers who purchase this new support will receive
priority access to Dell's Microsoft-trained team of software specialists.
"Our technical support and software specialists offer customers a level of
quality unequaled in the industry," said John Kinnaird, vice president and
general manager of Dell Direct. "Our fee-based support will make it easier
for users to come to a single source for all their hardware and software
support needs." An eight-time winner of PC WEEK's Customer Satisfaction
Award and a five-time recipient of PC MAGAZINE's Reader's Choice Award,
Dell is recognized as an industry leader in service and support. Other
distinctions include a previous World Class Award for Service and Support
and Best Overall Award for Service and Reliability in PC WORLD.

In initiating its new fee-based software support, Dell addresses industry
trends indicating customer interest in fast access to MS-DOS and Windows
support; customers of Dell's new fee-based support will receive priority
response over other software support calls.

Dell also points to the customer advantage of paying only for the service
they need; system costs will remain competitive as service and support is
treated as separate product. "As is evident from the Dell Dimension price
cuts we have announced today, Dell will be in a better position to offer
competitive prices because of our new software support offering," said Mr.
Kinnaird.

Dell will continue to provide customer service and support for its hardware
at no charge. Dell offers 90-day and one-year contracts for support of
software applications after a 45-day period of complimentary installation
and configuration support for applications installed at the factory.
