DELL ENHANCES ITS BUSINESS DESKTOP LINE WITH MORE POWER AND INTELLIGENCE

-- Corporate Customers to Experience Dell's First Wave of "Smart PCs"

AUSTIN, Texas, March 27, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL),
a leading PC supplier to corporate and government customers, today
enhanced its OptiPlex X500 business desktop line with Intel's new 120MHz
Pentium processor and new intelligent system management tools for
client/server environments.

Dell is now among the first companies to provide its customers with the
next level of industry-standard Pentium processor power, while many
vendors are still struggling to broaden their Pentium processor-based
product lines.

Being one of the first to market with 120MHz Pentium processors is further
evidence of Dell's unique ability to take a leadership position during
important technology transitions because of its build-to-order
manufacturing process. This build-to-order approach allows the company to
maintain low inventory levels and quickly integrate emerging technologies
into its systems.

Optimized for highly networked environments, the OptiPlex X5120 systems are
available immediately and start at $2,585 in the United States.

PERFORMANCE TO RUN THE BUSINESS

The 120MHz Pentium-based OptiPlex systems, a highly reliable family of
desktop systems, provide 23 percent more performance than the latest
generation Intel Pentium processor and 238 percent more performance than
an Intel DX2 66MHz 486-based system.

This new level of power moves the benchmark for performance, providing a
powerful platform optimized for upcoming software such as Microsoft's
Windows 95 to advanced operating systems such as Windows NT and IBM's
OS/2.

INDUSTRY-STANDARD NETWORKING; SYSTEM INTELLIGENCE

The new OptiPlex X500 systems represent Dell's commitment to providing its
corporate customers with networking solutions that manage network
enterprises more effectively. As evidence of that commitment, Dell
recently announced its partnership with 3COM, the industry's leading
provider of networking products.

Through its extensive technology-sharing alliance with 3COM, Dell plans to
bring to market integrated, industry-standard networking technologies. The
two companies also will share marketing and customer information, product
directions and technology strategies.

Dell today also introduced its first wave of it OptiPlex X500 "Smart PCs,"
which enable network administrators to more fully manage technology
assets, including inventory management and support management. Dell's
intelligent OptiPlex X500 integrates DMI (desktop management interface)
software that enables client PCs to store additional intelligence such as
system configuration, system location and asset tags.

Dell's "Smart PCs" integrate both DMI and the "Dell Inspector," Dell's
system management application, which has a graphical user interface
designed to enable users to give access to system information down to the
component level.

Dell's "Smart PCs" are compatible with today's leading network-level
management applications such as Intel's LANdesk and Hewlett Packard's
Openview. In conjunction with Intel's LANdesk, Dell's OptiPlex X500,
incorporating DMI, enables network administrators to perform centralized
tracking to access, monitor and configure data on DMI-compliant products
-- locally or via a network.

For example, rather than dispatching a technician to troubleshoot a
problem, or conduct a physical inventory of a system, network
administrators will now be able to determine from a remote location which
operating system, motherboard components, serial number and asset tag are
in the system. These added capabilities significantly reduce corporate MIS
costs for support, asset management and software upgrades.

As a leading member of the DMTF (desktop management task force) steering
committee, Dell helped to define the DMI specification, an "open-systems"
framework for future compatibility standards. The DMTF is a consortium of
the industry's leading technology companies, consisting of more than 90
member companies working together to define the standards that will ensure
compatibility and manageability across all future software, hardware and
peripherals.

Dell's "Smart PC" solution is compatible with today's defined standards as
well as multiple vendor communication's protocols and is compatible with
the DMTF's specification, unlike some manufacturers who are working with a
limited number of technology companies on developing proprietary
solutions.

The new features announced today demonstrate Dell's longtime focus on
providing its customers industry-standard technology, while managing total
product life cycle costs -- something Dell has been doing for years --
from the initial purchase with software installation to the end-of-life
with asset recovery.

The new capabilities are enhancements based on proven industry standards so
corporate customers can upgrade their current Dell OptiPlex systems to the
new features --saving both time and money in training, support and system
qualification costs.

All OptiPlex X500 systems are backed by Dell's three year service and
support program, which includes unlimited toll-free technical support -- 7
days a week, 24 hours a day; next-business day on-site service through
BancTec service corporation, 30-day money back guarantee and access to
Dell's SelectCare program -- Dell's custom configured extended service
offerings.

A FORTUNE Global 500 company with headquarters in Austin, Texas, Dell
Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) designs, develops, manufactures,
markets, services and supports a complete line of personal computers
compatible with industry standards. Dell is the world's leading direct
marketer of personal computers with annual revenues of nearly $3.5
billion. Information on the company and its products can be obtained
