IBM Reaffirms Widest Range of Choice for Customers

SOMERS, N.Y., May 11 . . . In keeping with its promise to provide customers
with the widest range of choice for their computing needs, IBM today
underscored its commitment to support a variety of operating systems on
its PC products.

Already a leader in providing platforms for advanced 32-bit operating
systems with OS/2 Warp, IBM announced that its personal computers will
also run Microsoft's Windows 95.

"IBM has led the industry in helping customers make the transition to
32-bit computing," said Bruce Claflin, general manager, development and
brand management for the IBM PC Company. "We are committed to providing
our customers with a superior level of choice."

IBM, which rigorously tests products from third party suppliers for
compatibility and ease of use, is working with Microsoft to ensure that
only a stable, quality product is made available on IBM PCs. IBM will
ensure system compatibility and support of Windows 95 for IBM customers,
including support of the Plug and Play Specification 1.0A.

IBM intends to preload Windows 95 on selected desktop and mobile systems
and will provide customer support for these preloaded systems through the
IBM HelpCenters worldwide. In addition, IBM will work with Microsoft to
establish a technical support team to ensure for customers that Windows 95
is compatible with IBM hardware.
