PhotoFix Offers Mac Users Affordable, Easy to Use Photo Editing

Saratoga, CA -- April 18, 1995 -- Microspot USA, Inc. announced today that
it has started shipping PhotoFix, a new photo editing application,
throughout North America. Designed for novices as well as professionals,
PhotoFix is an affordable, easy-to-use alternative to today's complex
photo retouching and editing programs for the Macintosh.

Although PhotoFix is Power Macintosh native, it runs on 5 Mb Macs and thus
offers new options to those with Performas and other small machines with
minimal amounts of memory. Compatible with PhotoCDs and most scanners via
plug-ins, PhotoFix supports both PICT and TIFF images, and offers an
integrated browser utility which allows users to catalog, view and
retrieve frequently used images. Double-clicking on any catalogued image
launches the PhotoFix application and opens the image.

PhotoFix offers a wide range of customizable painting, drawing and
retouching tools, and numerous editing capabilities such as cloning,
feathering and masking. Its extended color palette allows users to choose
from 16.7 million colors, adjust brightness, store up to 12 colors, and
preview gradient effects between two or four different colors. Users can
separate images into RGB layers and edit each one separately, or apply
third-party plug-in filters such as Kai's Power Tools or Aldus Gallery
Effects. Additional features include up to 32 levels of Undo;
automatic/manual color, contrast and brightness correction controls; and a
unique Quit Special feature which automatically saves work in progress
when users need to switch between applications, or when power failures or
system crashes occur.

PhotoFix's exclusive HQP (High Quality Printing) feature can automatically
correct the brightness and contrast values of color and grayscale images.
As it loads an image, PhotoFix checks for any dominant colors and analyzes
which brightness, contrast and color corrections best suit the selected
printed. Users can either apply these corrections automatically, or
override them and apply corrections manually. Since HQP lets users
calibrate output for their specific printers, it allows them to produce
high quality images even on low-end desktop printers.

"At a street price under $200, PhotoFix offers Mac users an affordable,
comprehensive photo editing solution while eliminating the expenses
associated with upgrading their machines to run the larger, higher-priced
alternatives," said Robert Coulling, President of Microspot USA, Inc. List
priced at $249, PhotoFix will run on low-end Macintoshes with as little as
1.5 Mb of free RAM. It minimally requires a Macintosh with a 68020 or
greater processor and System 7.0.
