The latest in a growing list of quality networking products from Multi-Tech
Systems, the patented (U.S. Patent Number 5,355,365) MultiModemLAN, is
really three super-productive tools in one. Operating on Novell Ethernet
LANs, the MultiModemLAN functions as a communications server, a dedicated
single-port fax server, or an asynchronous bridge. Yet it takes up about
as much space as a standard desktop modem.

Within this compact package, we've included a built-in V.34 data/fax modem,
a 486SLC-25 processor, 4 MB (expandable to 32 MB) RAM, and an Ethernet
(10BASET/Thinnet) NIC. These components are the basis for a powerful
networking tool with some truly advanced features. For instance, dynamic
switching between remote node and remote control during a remote access
call saves time and money while improving productivity.

Suppose a remote user calls into the LAN via remote node to check E-Mail,
and finds there a request that requires access to data files on a network
PC (a task better suited to remote control). With dynamic switching, the
MultiModemLAN lets the user employ remote control during the very same
call to access the PC and process data (without having to make the second
call that other LAN modem products require).

Yet for all its sophistication, the patented MultiModemLAN is easy to
install and use. With simple connections to the LAN, power, and phone
line(s), it boots its OS and server software from the file server and, in
no time at all, becomes a fully functioning LAN node that can run PC
software for remote control operations in addition to providing basic
dial-in/dial-out modem sharing. And it comes bundled with all this
software: MultiExpress data software, MultiExpressFax client and server
software, MultiExpressRNG modem sharing software, and MultiExpressBridge
software.
