NETMANAGE ANNOUNCES SNA CONNECTIVITY SUITE FOR WINDOWS

PRODUCT PROVIDES SEAMLESS PC MIGRATION FROM SNA TOTCP/IP

Cupertino, California- May 2, 1995 - NetManage, the leader in TCP/IP for
Windows applications, announced today a comprehensive SNA to TCP/IP
application suite that allows MIS managers to create a seamless migration
path from SNA to TCP/IP for the Windows PC desktop. Swift is the latest
addition to the NetManage product family, based on the company's award
winning Chameleon host connectivity group, which includes IBM mainframe,
AS/400 midrange, and UNIX terminal emulation applications. Swift takes
terminal emulation a step further by providing value added SNA
connectivity features that allows SNA and TCP/IP to coexist with the
option to migrate to a full TCP/IP network over time. "In today's
migration from proprietary to open systems, one of the biggest challenges
corporate MIS managers face is the creation of a network environment where
SNA and TCP/IP coexist. Current connectivity solutions are a patchwork of
multivendor products. NetManage is the single vendor solution for a
manageable SNA to TCP/IP migration path for the Windows desktop," said Zvi
Alon, President and CEO of NetManage.

Swift is a terminal and printer emulation suite for Windows PC's. Swift
serves three connectivity areas: IBM mainframe, IBM AS/400 midrange, UNIX,
Digital OpenVMS and dial-up (BBS). For IBM SNA environments, Swift
applications support direct SNA connections, proprietary gateways into
SNA, and TCP/IP gateways into SNA. The support of a variety of network
transports makes Swift truly protocol independent.

IBM Mainframe Connectivity in Swift

Swift includes powerful IBM mainframe connectivity applications. The 3270
Terminal application emulates an IBM 3278 terminal, models 2 through 5.
Included in 3270 Terminal at no additional cost are sophisticated features
such as All Points Addressable (APA) graphics support. The 3270 Printer
application emulates IBM 3287 remote SNA printers utilizing SNA LU1 and
LU3 connections. Also included in Swift is the NewtPROFS application -- a
Windows front end to IBM PROFS and OfficeVision/VM electronic mail
systems. All applications for mainframe connectivity support the Novell
NetWare SAA Gateway, Microsoft SNA Server, 3270 coax DFT connections, and
TCP/IP gateways into SNA.

IBM AS/400 Midrange Connectivity in Swift

Windows to IBM AS/400 connectivity needs are addressed by four Swift
applications. The 5250 Terminal application emulates an IBM 5250 terminal,
models 2 and 5. The 5250 Terminal supports the advanced editing functions
of OfficeVision/400. The 5250 Printer application delivers emulation for
three IBM printers including the IBM 3812 laser printer. Files can be
exchanged between Windows and the AS/400 system with the Swift AS/400 File
Transfer application. AS/400 File Transfer can move and entire file or
selected records using SQL select statements. For highly transparent data
exchange there is the Swift AS/400 Shared Folder application that allows
AS/400 directories to be mounted on the Windows PC as a drive letter. All
Swift applications for AS/400 connectivity support the IBM PC Support
Router, IBM Client Access/400 Router, and the NetSoft Router, except for
AS/400 Shared Folder which supports IBM PC Support Router and IBM Client
Access/400 Router only.

UNIX Connectivity in Swift

UNIX connectivity in Swift is provided by the Telnet and ASCII Terminal
application which emulates several popular ASCII terminal types including:
DEC VT320, TeleVideo 950/955, Wyse 50/60, SCO ANSI, AT386, ANSI, and TTY.
In addition to TCP/IP LAN support, Telnet and ASCII Terminal can access
the PC communications port (COM1, COM2, etc.) for direct RS-232
connections to host systems and dial-out to remote bulletin boards. Serial
line file transfer can be accomplished with Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, and
Kermit file transfer protocols.

Emulation Automation in Swift

Swift features a robust scripting language that can be used to automate
emulation tasks. Scripts can perform many functions including control of
multiple emulation sessions, automatic log-on, extracting host data, and
communicating with other PC applications. Many features of the Windows
graphical user interfaces are available to the script programmer including
dialog boxes, radio buttons, check boxes, and pull down menus.

Swift plus Chameleon - The Complete TCP/IP Migration Solution Swift can be
combined with the Chameleon desktop to expand the product's powerful
connectivity application suite embracing both the SNA and TCP/IP
environments. Chameleon provides users with an integrated set of TCP/IP
applications including mail/messaging, file transfer, file and printer
sharing , Internet access tools, t collaboration and network management.
The emulation applications in Swift have been designed to integrate with
high level TCP/IP applications in Chameleon such as FTP and Mail. For
example; a user might retrieve data from the host system to the PC and
forward the data to other network users using the Chameleon Mail client or
FTP applications. The entire process can be automated from the script
language environment.

TCP/IP Included

NetManage bundles its NEWT TCP/IP protocol stack and utility applications
with Swift. The TCP/IP protocol stack is a 100% native Windows product and
utilizes state-of-the art DLL and VxD technology. NEWT, Swift, and
Chameleon all utilize the WinSock 1.1 industry standard application
interface -- a specification derived from the NetManage Windows socket
interface published in 1992.

Pricing and Availability

Swift is available today and is priced at $400.00, or bundled with
Chameleon for $600.00, per single copy. Chameleon is priced at $400.00,
and ChameleonNFS at $495.00 when purchased separately. For more
