STEREOGRAPHICS CRYSTALEYES FEATURED AT EDS' DETROIT VIRTUAL REALITY CENTER

Visitors To Detroit's Virtual Reality Center To Use StereoGraphics' 3D
Stereo Eyewear To Visualize Virtual Environments

San Rafael, CA -- April 26, 1995 -- StereoGraphics Corporation, the world's
leading supplier of three-dimensional electronic stereo display equipment,
announced its participation in the Detroit Virtual Reality Center,
believed to be the first commercial virtual reality center in the world.

Viewers wearing untethered CrystalEyes 3D stereo eyewear are able to
interact with images in three different venues: 1) PC workstation; 2)
large-scale projection; and 3) in a VR CAVE which consists of four
projectors in a room, immersing the viewer with the image generated by a
computer.

The CAVE (Computer Automated Virtual Environment) is a theater of 10x10x9
feet consisting of two rear projector screens for walls and a down
projector screen for the floor that together create a composite image. The
CAVE provides the immersive qualities of conventional virtual reality
systems without the high computational requirements, since images need not
change very rapidly from one part of the database to another. In addition,
the CAVE permits viewers to more readily exchange ideas because a group
can easily "inhabit" the virtual environment together.

The center, opened by EDS, a leader in applying information technology with
operations in 40 countries, is located in the Albert Kahn Building in the
city's New Center area and is used to demonstrate a variety of advanced
computer technologies from over 35 high-tech companies, universities and
government organizations.

CrystalEyes eyewear produces stereopsis by electronically replicating the
way people view their surroundings in the real world. As comfortable and
convenient as a pair of glasses, lightweight CrystalEyes produces a true
3D image when used with projection screens and computer monitors. The
patented CrystaEyes are the only economical eyewear to produce true
flicker-free, full-color depth perception demanded by the precise tasks
performed on today's modern electro-stereoscopic displays.

An example of CAVE application is a virtual car, such as the one developed
by General Motors Research and Development Center which uses 3D
visualization to help automotive designers and engineers evaluate
mathematical models of products without building physical prototypes. The
computer image consists of ray-traced imagery and dynamically rendered
geometric surfaces so viewers can walk around and then sit inside a car
made only of light. The correct viewpoint of the car interior is
maintained by tracking the viewing position and orientation of the
occupant.

Among those who benefit from virtual reality applications are automotive
engineers, medical experts, geologists, architects and manufacturers. For
instance, factory designers could use the facility to get the sense they
are walking through a plant so they can gauge sight lines and distances.
This would enable them to position and reposition equipment for optimum
effect without actually having to move heavy objects around. In the
medical field, virtual three-dimensional views of the body could enhance
current Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT)
technology.

While not open to the public, the Detroit Virtual Reality Center will work
closely with educational organizations ensuring students and teachers are
apprised of the latest advancements and developments. In addition, EDS, as
an integrator, will sell the products now on display at the center.

StereoGraphics Corp., founded in 1980, invented and developed the market
for modern stereo imaging hardware. Due to its capability, reasonable
price and state-of-the-art technology backed by 15 patents, CrystalEyes
systems are accepted as the industry standard for stereo viewing.
