Sybase and ETI Team for SAP and Data Warehouse Implementations

JOINT ETI, SYBASE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT WILL CULMINATE IN NEW TOOLS TO
FACILITATE DATA WAREHOUSE AND LARGE-SCALE APPLICATION IMPLEMENTATIONS FOR
SYBASE CUSTOMERS

DB EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO, May 2, 1995 -- Evolutionary Technologies, Inc.
(ETI) and Sybase, Inc. today announced a new joint relationship which
allows Sybase customers to use ETI's EXTRACT Tool Suite to facilitate the
use of SAP data as well as the implementation of data warehouse and other
large-scale application projects.

As part of their relationship, ETI and Sybase intend to begin immediately
collaborating on enhancing ETI's Data System Library (DSL) for SYBASE,
which will enable users to quickly and easily load data from other
information sources - including SAP - into SYBASE database servers. The
SYBASE family of servers supports a broad range of on-line transaction and
decision-support requirements and is also a key component of SYBASE
Warehouse WORKS, Sybase's client/server-based data warehouse framework.

The cooperative development work to enhance the functionality of the DSL
for SYBASE software will take place at ETI's Austin headquarters. The
enhancements will include a transactional database populating (loading)
mechanism that can selectively retrieve, insert, update, and delete
changed data. The feature, which complements existing support for Sybase's
bulk load facility, will be unique to ETI's EXTRACT Tool Suite version for
SYBASE software. The enhanced DSL for SYBASE database servers will be made
available to joint ETI and Sybase customers through ETI.

"Data transformation software plays a critical role in data warehousing and
decision-support environments, providing the ability to modify operational
data to support strategic decision making," said Mike Forster, president
of MDI, a Sybase company. "The relationship with ETI is an important
extension of Sybase's commitment to supporting customers in these
environments via best-of-breed third-party solutions. Through ETI's
EXTRACT Tool Suite and enhanced DSL for SYBASE, customers will have a
range of advanced capabilities for managing data warehouses, migrating
legacy data to SYBASE databases, and creating seamless, bi-directional
data transport bridges to other systems."

"We're very pleased to work with Sybase in providing added-value solutions
for its customers," commented Robin Curle, executive vice president of
sales and marketing for ETI. "Through our joint efforts, Sybase users will
gain proven data warehouse capabilities as well as the ability to take
advantage of new enterprise applications, such as those from SAP, while
maintaining their software investment. By using the EXTRACT Tool Suite
with ETI's soon-to-be released DSL for SAP and the DSL for SYBASE, users
will be able to transport data back and forth between SYBASE databases and
the SAP application's R/2 or R/3 files."

ETI'S EXTRACT TOOL SUITE

The ETI EXTRACT Tool Suite automates the creation and execution of all of
the programs necessary to collect, cleanse, transform, and migrate data
from any source database or file system, across any network, to any target
database, such as SYBASE SQL Server and Navigation Server, on any platform
regardless of hardware or operating system. The EXTRACT tools also provide
extensive meta data capabilities, capturing and providing easy access to
all of the information about the origins and transformations performed on
data between database environments, a key factor in effective data
warehouse management.
