Sybase Announces SQL Server 10 For Unixware 2

SYBASE'S SQL SERVER 10 ON NOVELL UNIXWARE 2 CURRENTLY IN BETA

DB EXPO, CA, May 2, 1995 -- Sybase, Inc., The Enterprise Client/Server
Company, today announced it will extend its support for UnixWare, Novell's
leading network and operating system platform, with Sybase's SQL Server 10
relational database management system (RDBMS) for UnixWare 2. SQL Server
10 for UnixWare 2 is in Beta testing, and is currently scheduled for
general availability in June, 1995.

"Data General is pleased with the performance of Sybase's SQL Server 10 for
UnixWare 2. SQL Server 10 for UnixWare 2 is a solid, well-supported,
quality product, that businesses can trust," said Richard Clifton,
director database engineering, Data General Corporation.

In March of 1993, Sybase initially announced SYBASE SQL Server 10 RDBMS for
UnixWare, offering customers powerful, cost-effective, on-line data
management and interoperability for heterogeneous enterprise client/server
systems. SQL Server 10 on UnixWare 2 fully exploits the symmetric
multiprocessing (SMP) capabilities of UnixWare 2 and both the TCP/IP and
Novell SPX/IPX network protocols.

"SQL Server for UnixWare combines the highly scalable architecture and
mainframe-like security of SQL Server 10 with UnixWare's 32-bit operating
system power giving our Intel customers a tremendous boost in application
performance. With simplified installation, administration, NetWare
integration and support, users can quickly and cost-effectively develop
and deploy client/server systems to meet their critical business
requirements," said David Sohm, vice president of channels and partner
marketing for Sybase. "With SQL Server 10 for UnixWare 2, we are pleased
to extend our support for Novell's widely adopted networking and operating
system platforms as a strategic part of our commitment to our
client/server customers."

"We are pleased Sybase is bringing its industry-leading client/server
database solution, SQL Server 10, to the UnixWare 2 operating system,"
said Allen Cohen, director of ISV marketing for Novell's UNIX Systems
Group. "SQL Server 10 for UnixWare 2 will significantly broaden our
ability to provide customers with highly cost effective solutions, further
facilitating access and management of information into enterprise-wide
computing environments."
