Synopsys, Inc. Forms DSP Core Team

22-Member Team Focused on R&D, Marketing, Sales & Training for DSP Design
Software Products

May 15, 1995-- Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS) today announced the formation
of a 22-member team of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) experts to focus on
research and development, marketing, sales and training for the company's
DSP design software products. The charter of the core team is to provide
Synopsys customers with a fast path from concept to implementation for
DSP-based systems. The company intends to build a leadership position in
DSP design with innovative system modeling, hardware/software co-design,
and co-simulation technology.

"This high-caliber team of DSP experts is essential to broadening Synopsys'
reach into the systems market and to achieving our objective of making
system designers more productive," stated Penny Herscher, vice president
and general manager of Synopsys' Design Environment Business Unit. "To
ensure customer success, we've put a team in place that can lend the
appropriate level of support at every stage of the relationship, from
pre-sales evaluation all the way through to successful completion of a
DSP-based system design. Most importantly, our marketing, sales,
consulting and training personnel are backed up by a phenomenal R&D team
focused on delivering innovative DSP design technology."

New Director of Marketing, Technical Marketing Manager

The DSP core team includes newly-appointed Director of DSP Marketing John
Cooper, responsible for driving the company's DSP design tool marketing
efforts worldwide. Mr. Cooper joins Synopsys following nine years with
Texas Instruments in DSP sales and marketing. Most recently, he served as
Business Development Manager for the DSP market development team. He was
responsible for emerging market analysis, new product definition and
development, and product marketing and support for the company's $60
million DSP business in North America. Mr. Cooper also held product
marketing, technical sales, sales representative and sales associate
positions with Texas Instruments over the course of his career. He holds a
BSEE from the University of Santa Barbara.

The team also includes new Technical Marketing Manager Ravi Subramanian.
Dr. Subramanian brings experience in DSP-based system design to his new
position, specifically in digital cellular and digital cordless telephone
system design. Most recently, he was Member of the Technical Staff in the
Radio Systems Research Department with AT&T Bell Labs (Holmdel, New
Jersey). There, he focused on joint DSP R&D and consulting efforts between
the communications systems lab and AT&T's Consumer Products and
Microelectronics (DSP) Business Units.

While at AT&T, he also co-designed and commercially demonstrated the
AT&T/CADIS DSP161x Design Kit now commercially offered jointly by Synopsys
(formerly CADIS, GmbH) and AT&T Microelectronics. Previously, Dr.
Subramanian held engineering and research scientist positions with
Teknekron Communications Systems (Berkeley, Calif.) and the Electronics
Research Laboratory (UC Berkeley). He holds five patents related to his
work in digital communications and has written and presented numerous
technical papers for seminars, conferences and technical journals. Dr.
Subramanian holds a BSEE for The California Institute of Technology
(Pasadena, Calif.) and a PhD in EECS from the University of California at
Berkeley.

Strong DSP Research & Development Team

Director of DSP Tools Joachim Kunkel heads up the DSP Tools group,
responsible for DSP product development at Synopsys. The group is largely
made up of the former R&D team of CADIS GmbH (Aachen, Germany), acquired
by Synopsys, Inc. in May 1994. This team possesses tremendous experience
in the design of tools for analysis, simulation, behavioral modeling, and
implementation of digital signal processing systems. R&D Director
Heinz-Josef Schlebusch oversees the group's efforts in Aachen, Germany. A
co-founder of CADIS, GmbH, Mr. Kunkel has recently relocated to Mountain
View, California to facilitate communications among DSP core team members
at Synopsys headquarters and R&D in Germany.

"In the past year, the Synopsys DSP R&D team has made excellent progress in
DSP design software product development," stated Mr. Kunkel. "Just six
months after the acquisition, Synopsys announced Version 6.7, which
included direct links to the company's Behavioral Compiler(TM) and
optional DSP Developer Kits for co-simulation with TI and AT&T DSPs. With
this new team in place, we expect to achieve great success in getting our
products into the hands of DSP system designers faster than ever before."

Dedicated Worldwide DSP Sales Team

Synopsys' DSP core team has dedicated sales, applications and training
consultants in the U.S., led by DSP Sales Manager Chris Bauer, email:
bauer@synopsys.com, in Mountain View, CA. Other DSP sales specialists are
Brad Murphy, email: bmurphy@synopsys.com, in California (415) 694-4096,
Scott Spurlin, email: spurlin@synopsys.com, in Texas (512) 794-8224 and
Doug Aitelli, email: douga@synopsys.com, in Massachusetts (800) 223-4732.
An additional four sales and applications consultants are focused on the
European market place. Japan and Pacific Rim sales are being handled
through Synopsys' direct sales force and sales representatives. The DSP
core team is augmented by Synopsys' 250-member worldwide sales force.

About Synopsys' DSP Design Solutions

Synopsys' second-generation DSP design system offers tremendous
productivity benefits to designers building DSP-based systems on chips by
providing a fast path from algorithmic specification to hardware
implementation. In the Synopsys DSP design environment, a designer can
specify, analyze, simulate and implement a complete system. Synopsys DSP
tools allow designers to naturally describe data-flow oriented designs and
easily simulate large, complex, high-level systems. The Synopsys DSP
design tools offer significant advantages over standard cycle-based or
event-driven simulators because they are fully integrated with the
company's behavioral, RTL and simulation products.
