THE JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL PHYSICS TO PUBLISH ON CD-ROM

First six months free to current print subscribers

WOODBURY, NY, June 1, 1995--John Light, editor of The Journal of Chemical
Physics (JCP), today announced that the journal will be available on
CD-ROM beginning July 1995. The journal is published by the American
Institute of Physics, a major international publisher of physics research
and related information.

"This is a breakthrough for our readers," said Light. "The new CD-ROM will
bring them powerful electronic features such as multifaceted indexing,
easy searching and retrieval, and high-quality viewing and printing of
articles. It will also relieve the space problem for many scientists who
like to keep JCP in their offices."

JCP on CD-ROM will be issued quarterly, with the first CD free to current
print subscribers (JCP Volume 102, January - June 1995). June and December
CDS will contain all issues from the most recent six months. The 1996
CD-ROM set will include 10 years of JCP bibliographic information.

"The Journal of Chemical Physics is the premier journal at the interface of
physics and chemistry," said Marc Brodsky, a physicist and CEO of the
American Institute of Physics. "As well as helping subscribers work faster
and more efficiently, we also hope to reduce the environmental impact of
printing on paper."

JCP offers over 20,000 pages per year of refereed articles on quantum
chemistry, classical and quantum dynamics, atomic and molecular structure,
interactions and spectroscopy, thermodynamics and statistical mechanics,
computational chemistry and molecular dynamics simulations, chemical
kinetics and reaction rates, nuclear magnetic resonance, polymers,
surfaces and general chemical physics.

Darlene Walters, Vice President of Publishing for the American Institute of
Physics said, "The new JCP CD-ROM reflects our continuing commitment to
bring the advances of electronic publishing to the physics community. It
joins a growing family that includes Applied Physics Letters Online,
PINET--the newly enhanced Physics Information Network--and other CDROMS,
such as the Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology A and B."

The American Institute of Physics is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
furthering the science of physics and its application to human welfare. As
a publisher and distributor, the Institute currently offers over 50
journals, 350 books, and a variety electronic products.
