RACK-MOUNT COMPUTER SERIES PROVIDES CENTRALIZED CLIENT/SERVER APPROACH TO
HIGH-PERFORMANCE NETWORKING

ALR First to Incorporate Up to Four 133-MHz Pentium Multiprocessor Servers
in One Space-Saving Unit for Efficient Network Management and Easy
Serviceability

Irvine, CA., June 12, 1995 -- Advanced Logic Research Inc. (ALR)
(NASDAQ:AALR), an industry leader in the design, manufacture, marketing
and support of advanced computer systems, today introduced the ALR
Rack-Mountable Revolution Q-SMP Series, a line of rack-mount computer
systems that can incorporate up to four full-size quad 133-MHz Pentium
multiprocessor network servers in a single space-saving enclosure.

Recognizing the trend for today's networked organizations to take advantage
of the benefits of a distributed client/server environment, ALR's
Rack-Mountable Revolution Q-SMP Series allows advanced PC processing power
to drive the network -- all from a centralized location for efficient
network management and easy serviceability.

"As networks continue to grow and expand, many network managers have simply
added new servers wherever they have space. This means that servers have
been located on every floor or added to a centralized computer room in a
haphazard manner, resulting in a hardware jungle," explained Genny
Ortegon, ALR's vice president of marketing. "With this product
introduction, we enable users to make sense of their networks by locating
all key components in one easily-accessible enclosure while at the same
time taking advantage of the benefits of powerful client/server
capabilities."

Ortegon added, ALR is responding to user demand. "We are increasingly
receiving requests for rack-mount units. As the PC server grows more and
more powerful, corporations want comparable increases in processing
capabilities, features and expandability. The rack-mount is a natural
evolution to a comprehensive system that meets these user needs in one
organized package," she said.

The expandable and configurable rack-mount series enables users to pick and
choose from a variety of configuration options. Users can incorporate
CPUs, storage devices, tape back-ups, uninterruptible power supplies
(UPS), monitors and keyboards to customize a solution that best fits their
needs. Furthermore, users can choose from a four-drawer or two-drawer
rack, and have easy access to each of the components by simply sliding out
a drawer in the rack-mount unit. Once the drawer is out, users have
instant access to the inside of it, making service and support effortless.
Additionally, with rack-mount configurations, users are assured of clean
and orderly cabling and routing.

CPUs Powered by Intel's New 133-MHz Pentium Processor

ALR's Rack-Mountable Series incorporates ALR's award-winning 64-bit
multi-processor Q-SMP architecture, enhancing it with Intel's new 133-MHz
Pentium processor to give end-users the maximum CPU performance available
today.

"When we introduced the Q-SMP system we gave the industry the world's first
90- and 100-MHz Pentium symmetrical multiprocessing system. We have
further enhanced the Q-SMP with the addition of Intel's most powerful
Pentium processor providing users the highest level of performance
currently available," said Ortegon. "This is key in a rack-mount system
where use of the technology as network servers means that high-performance
is a must."

Each base model Rack-Mountable Revolution Q-SMP incorporates up to four
Intel 133-MHz Pentium processors per unit. Users can also choose a Q-SMP
system that supports Intel's 100-MHz Pentium processor. The Q-SMP supports
EISA and PCI buses and provides two-way set associate "write-back" cache
in 256-KB, 1-MB and 2-MB options. Ten expansion slots (six EISA and four
PCI, one of which is shared) provide maximum expandability for SCSI,
network, video and other peripherals while the unit's up to 1-GB of error
detection and correction (EDC) RAM supplies users with the most memory
currently available to meet any operating system or application
requirement.

In addition, the base unit consists of 16-MB RAM, PCI video, a 1.44-MB
floppy drive, one 3.5 inch bay, three 5.25 inch bays, six 3.5 inch hot
swappable bays, two serial ports, one parallel port and one mouse port.
Each system drawer also comes standard with dual 600-watt redundant power
supply for reliability and fault tolerance operations to minimize downtime
in the event of a failed power supply.

"With its multiprocessing and expansion capabilities the ALR Rack-Mountable
Series is an ideal server for business and corporate environments
requiring one or multiple servers in an organized space-saving format for
easy serviceability," summed up Ortegon. "Supporting up to four servers,
that are each capable of supporting up to four 133-MHz Pentium processors,
the latest in CPU technology and an array of peripheral and storage
expandability, the Rack-Mountable Series is a very serious contender to
lead the server/rack-mount market."

Added Components Expand Rack-Mount's Functionality

The Rack-Mountable Series provides users with expandable storage options
via a SCSI hot-pluggable HDD drawer. With this option in place, users can
configure up to twelve SCSI hot swappable hard drives utilizing ALR's
Quick Hot Swap technology. Because the drawer includes fault-tolerance
power supplies, the drive and power supply system can be configured to
support automatic fail-over to a hot spare. This means zero downtime for
the system and no loss of data should a power supply or drive fail.

A four- or eight-button switch box allows users to connect either four or
eight servers from a single control point, enabling a single monitor,
mouse and keyboard to access each and every server. This feature allows
users to centralize the management of their networks, saving money on
additional components for each server and the time it normally takes to
move between systems.

ALR also offers users a UPS drawer. Combining a high-reliability sine-wave
uninterruptible power supply with power management software and hardware,
the UPS drawer protects the Rack-Mountable Series from electrical surges
and power fluctuations. ALR also includes a DAT drive option for backing
up large amounts of data as necessary.

Additionally, multiple levels of hardware and software security have been
incorporated into the rack-mount design to prevent unauthorized access and
misuse. In addition to its NetTune server management, ALR will offer
additional hardware and software management tools in Q4 '95.

Cabinet Enclosure

ALR offers two rack sizes. The 44U is just over 85-inches high and supports
up to four drawers. At just over 50-inches high, the 24U supports two
drawers. Multiple racks can be coupled together for multiple rack
configurations.

Pricing and Availability

ALR has aggressively priced its Rack-Mountable Series. A typical model,
consisting of a full size rack, one 133-Mhz Pentium processor with 1-MB L2
cache, 64-MB EDC RAM, 1.44-MB floppy, 1-MB PCI video, and redundant 600
Watt power supplies is approximately $13,400. This is a 30 percent price
advantage when compared to a similarily configured Compaq ProLiant 4000R
RPS 100. Additionally, ALR offers a higher performance Pentium processor,
two times the L2 cache, EISA and PCI buses, and larger rundundant power
supplies.

The company's Rack-Mountable series will be available in the third quarter,
1995.

ALR products are sold direct to corporations and small business through an
international network of ALR resellers. Additionally, the company offers
its products through such major distributors as Merisel, Tech Data,
Gates/Arrow and GBC/Vitek.
