POWERSHOP/PCI POWERS APPLE'S NEW POWERMAC 9500 IN BLAZING DEBUT

BEAVERTON, Oregon--June 22, 1995--Adaptive Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSO)
today announced the availability of its new PowerShop PCI accelerator
board for use with Apple Computer's new PowerMac 9500. PowerShop PCI is a
powerful accelerator designed specifically for graphic arts professionals
using Adobe Photoshop.

Adaptive Solutions' PowerShop PCI uses embedded parallel processing to
dramatically accelerate Photoshop functions over the PowerMac 9500,
delivering unmatched speed increases to computation-intensive tasks such
as unsharp mask, rotate, Gaussian blur and many others.

"We are very pleased that Adaptive Solutions' PowerShop PCI is available
for professional digital prepress, color publishing and image processing
applications on the Macintosh platform," said David Limp, Apple's Power
Macintosh product line manager. "Ultimately, though, it is the customers
who benefit, with greater access to graphics solutions that will help
showcase the speed and power of the PCI bus."

Apple selected PowerShop PCI to participate in a real-time on-stage
prepress demonstration intended to highlight the speed and performance of
the PowerMac 9500 during the computer's worldwide debut broadcast on June
19.

"We expect the impact of the PowerMac 9500 to be substantial in the color
publishing market where the user is always thirsting for faster
performance," said Bob Anundson, vice president of new business
development for Adaptive Solutions. "And if that same user works in
Photoshop, PowerShop PCI holds the key to tremendously enhanced
productivity.

The Technology Behind PowerShop PCI Performance

An Adobe "Charged" product, PowerShop was developed in close cooperation
with Adobe Systems. Using Adobe's extension architecture, Photoshop
operations are transparently diverted to PowerShop, resulting in a
powerful, transparent solution for PowerMac 9500. All that changes is the
speed with which the operations execute.

PowerShop puts 64 processors on one standard PCI card, all working in
parallel on image processing tasks, delivering up to five billion
operations per second. The technology was specifically developed by
Adaptive Solutions for the needs of computation-intensive parallel image
processing--the work performed by prepress professionals and color
publishers.

Typically, image manipulation involves massive amounts of data, but the
computations are parallel and repetitive in nature. PowerShop, with its
parallel architecture, attacks the task in a parallel manner. Each pixel
is assigned to an individual processor, so huge chunks of data are
processed simultaneously.

In addition, PowerShop features a unique, dedicated data management
processor, with separate banks of memory. This means the 64
microprocessors never wait for data. A high-performance PCI controller
ensures images move at the full transfer rate.

A New Generation of Flexible Acceleration

PowerShop PCI is flexible and will be able to accelerate many imaging
applications using the same hardware. For example, it can be used to
accelerate the transfer of images from Kodak digital cameras, JPEG
compression, and image acquisition from CD-ROMs and scanners.

Adaptive Solutions, headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, pioneered parallel
processing for the desktop and embedded applications. Adaptive designs and
manufactures parallel processing products using the CNAPS architecture for
pattern recognition applications, including image processing and neural
networks. For more information, contact:
