Fifty-two teachers to embark on AT&T's info highway adventure

June 13, 1995 -- BASKING RIDGE, N.J. -- For the third year in a row, the
AT&T Teachers and Technology Institute will take a selected group of
teachers from around the country on an exciting tour of the Information
Superhighway.

This year, 52 teachers were selected by AT&T and their states' governors to
participate in the award-winning program that gives math and science
teachers hands-on experience with the most innovative technology. They
were selected from hundreds of top-notch teachers who applied this year.
The program begins on July 16 and runs through July 29.

The AT&T Teachers and Technology Institute encourages innovative teaching
of math and science through the most advanced technology. Selected
teachers will spend part of the summer at AT&T and the company's world
renowned Bell Laboratories exchanging ideas with scientists,
mathematicians and engineers, including Nobel Laureate Arno Penzias, as
well as other experts in communications, computing and other Information
Superhighway technologies.

"AT&T truly believes the exchange of information between the private sector
and the educational system can help produce students with strong
analytical skills and prepare them for the workforce of the future," said
Joan Fenwick, director of the AT&T Teachers and Technology Institute.
"AT&T's partnership with these teachers can help chart new ways to engage
students in math and science education using technology. It's almost like
carpooling on the Information Superhighway."

Twenty-six states will be represented in this year's edition of the
Institute. Teachers will come from: Alaska, California, Connecticut,
Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan,
Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North
Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah
and Vermont.

AT&T began the Teachers and Technology Institute in 1993 in an effort to
create a tangible link between the corporation and the educational systems
nationwide to find more and better ways to incorporate new technologies in
math and science curricula. Since then, almost 100 math and science
teachers have attended the two-week program in Somerset, New Jersey.

Teachers are selected primarily for innovative teaching techniques,
education philosophy and a demonstrated commitment to their profession and
their students.

In addition to meeting industry and technical experts, participating
teachers will work on long-term projects that will extend into the school
year and involve many of their students and colleagues. They will keep in
touch with one another through services provided by AT&T EasyLink
Services, AT&T's electronic messaging branch.

In 1994, the AT&T Teachers and Technology Institute received the "Best in
Class" award from the Conference Board, a global business membership
organization that shares AT&T's commitment to education.
