SUPPLIER

Cabletron Grabs 25 Percent Of The Federal Market As Primary Supplier To
Agencies; 45 Percent Of Market As Secondary Supplier

Rochester, NH -- June 21, 1995 -- Cabletron Systems has emerged as the
leader in supplying intelligent hubs to the nation's federal agencies,
with 25 percent (Source: BRG Research Associates) of federal agencies
surveyed naming Cabletron as their primary provider.

In a report on the future of internetworking, industry analysts Business
Research Group surveyed federal users and found that Cabletron has the
strongest presence in the federal government over SynOptics, now Bay
Networks, 3Com/Startek, IBM, DEC, and UB Networks.

According to the study, while 64 percent of federal users have hubs from
more than one vendor, Cabletron outranks all of its competitors as the
preferred vendor in these multivendor hub environments.

"BRG research shows Cabletron to be the strongest primary intelligent hub
supplier in the federal government," said Greg Cline, program director for
Business Research Group. "Its leading-edge technology and aggressive
pricing continue to serve it well as a premier provider of best-value
intelligent hub solutions."

Cabletron's strong commitment to interoperability allow it to operate
effectively in the federal market, where multivendor environments are
common.

"Cabletron leads the federal market because of its strong commitment to
customer service and support and ability to provide seamless solutions in
environments where many vendors are present," said Cabletron Chairman
Craig Benson.

Federal government networks represent some of the largest and most diverse
networks in the world. "Success in this market demands flexible, highly
integrated products," he said.

Cabletron was added recently to the Standard&Poor's S&P 500 index, a
leading provider of financial, economic and investment information.
