COMPUSERVE PUTS THE ELECTRONIC MALL ON CD-ROM

COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 16, 1995 -- CompuServe's Electronic Mall the first and
most successful online shopping service, will be distributed on CD-ROM to
more than one million personal computer users worldwide in the last three
months of 1995. The Electronic Mall is now available to the more than 3.1
million members of the CompuServe Information Service and will be offered
to an additional 20 million Internet users when it opens on the World Wide
Web later this year.

The CD version of the Mall will reside on CompuServe's new member CD, which
is bundled with various multimedia upgrade kits. About a dozen merchants
are expected to market selected products on the CD using the full range of
multimedia capabilities available in that format.

"The CD gives us an excellent opportunity to bring audio, video and
animation to electronic shopping," said Keith Arnold, manager of The
Electronic Mall. "Because sound and graphics do so much to enrich the
shopping experience, we're exploring every possible way to bring
multimedia shopping to millions of consumers. Expanding the Mall to the
Web and to the new member CD are key steps in that effort."

In addition to browsing the stores, CompuServe members will be able to
order merchandise on the Mall CD with the click of a button, Arnold said.
Consumers who buy the PC upgrade kits and choose not to join CompuServe
immediately can still explore the Mall on CD and order merchandise by
telephone using 800 numbers provided by the merchants.

CompuServe pioneered the concept of online direct marketing when it
established The Electronic Mall 11 years ago. In 1994 the company
introduced CompuServeCD, the first CD ROM companion to an online service.
For the past year, selected Mall merchants have used CompuServeCD to
promote and sell products that could be "sampled" on the CD ROM, such as
audio CDs. The Mall's more than 170 stores include 1-800 Flowers, Service
Merchandise, Brooks Brothers, Ford Motor Company and The Metropolitan
Museum of Art.

The CompuServe Information Service continues to be the world's most
successful and most popular online service with 3.1 million members
accessing from 150 countries. The undisputed industry leader in
innovation, the service offers global email, the industry's first CD-ROM
supplement, libraries of free software, selected 28.8 kbps access and
worldwide direct Internet access services. For a free introductory
CompuServe membership, call 800-524-3388 and ask for representative number
