COMPAQ AUTHORIZES XEROX FOR WARRANTY SERVICE

HOUSTON, May 31, 1995 -- As part of its ongoing effort to provide customers
with superior service and support, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ)
today announced that the Xerox Corporation has been authorized to perform
warranty service on the full line of Compaq products in the United States.
Xerox United States Customer Operations, through its Multivendor and
Network Services Organization, is now a fully accredited Compaq Third
Party Maintainer and will also serve as a provider of on-site warranty
service as dispatched by Compaq.

Compaq continues to back its products with the best value and broadest
range of service and support programs for business and consumer customers,
including a three-year limited warranty, on-site support, 24-hour-a-day
technical telephone support, technical support via the leading on-line
information services and several other fee-based support programs. "Xerox
is a world class service organization that will enable Compaq to continue
providing the highest levels of support to the growing number of customers
who purchase our products," said Gus Kolias, Vice President, Service and
