DayStar Releases PhotoMatic 2.0

Popular Photoshop Automation Utility to be Distributed as FreeWare via
Internet

Flowery Branch, Georgia -- May 29, 1995 -- DayStar Digital today announced
that it is now shipping the eagerly anticipated PhotoMatic version 2.0.
This feature-rich Photoshop batch processing utility - which originally
sold for $199 - will now be distributed as freeware. Version 2.0 is now
shipping to upgrade customers. General distribution of version 2.0 will be
via DayStar's home page on the World Wide Web (http://www.daystar.com).

What is PhotoMatic 2.0 ?

With PhotoMatic, Photoshop users can easily automate nearly every facet of
image processing. To create a script, the user simply pulls down a Record
menu added to the Photoshop menu bar by PhotoMatic. Then, PhotoMatic
records their actions in an AppleScript compatible script. PhotoMatic
scripts can then be applied to an unlimited series of images, either from
within Photoshop or from the desktop.

PhotoMatic Version 2.0 adds native PowerPC support, full AppleScript
compliance, and full compatibility with Adobe Photoshop 3.0 to an already
powerful package. There is also a new status window, which displays
information about scripts and images queued for processing, and wealth of
new preferences and option settings. 2.0 also has the ability to watch a
specified folder for new files to process.

PhotoMatic 2.0 Features:

- Automates virtually any task in Photoshop
- Allows users to apply a list of Photoshop functions or filters
to an unlimited number of images
- Easy to use - creates scripts automatically
- The only software that integrates AppleScript within Photoshop

Promotion and distribution

PhotoMatic 2.0 is currently shipping to registered upgrade customers at no
charge. DayStar recently made PhotoMatic available at its World Wide Web
site. DayStar's home page is located at http://www.daystar.com. DayStar's
other online sites will point to the Web site. DayStar's Web page will be
the primary distribution channel for PhotoMatic 2.0.

The Transition to FreeWare

In transitioning PhotoMatic to FreeWare, DayStar provides an upgrade path
for PhotoMatic 1.0 users, and allows everyone to use the product of its
software engineering effort.

DayStar believes that multiprocessing is critical to the future of the Mac
OS. In exiting the software market, DayStar seeks to ensure broad
acceptance of its nPOWER multiprocessing standard and Genesis MP
workstation by eliminating conflicts with manufacturers of other software
products.

Support Issues

Because DayStar is distributing PhotoMatic as FreeWare, we will not be able
to provide technical support. As more online users discover PhotoMatic,
new uses for the program will be found and new users will develop into
experts. It is DayStar's hope that the online community will continue to
support new PhotoMatic users with scripts, tricks, and tips.
