DIGITAL ANNOUNCES LEADING CAD PACKAGE FOR ALPHASTATION WORKSTATIONS

AutoCAD Release 13 from Autodesk Now Available Under Windows NT for Alpha

ATLANTA, Georgia -- June 5, 1995 -- Digital Equipment Corporation today
announced that AutoCAD Release 13 software from Audodesk, Inc., is now
available for Digital's AlphaStation workstations under the Windows NT
operating system. AutoCAD Release 13 is the flagship product of a family
of design automation products from Autodesk--the world's largest provider
of computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Alpha is the only RISC platform for AutoCAD Release 13 software today in
the Microsoft Windows NT environment. Currently there are more than 60
million PC users accustomed to using AutoCAD who can now benefit from the
outstanding performance of AlphaStation workstations.

"Digital's AlphaStation is the fastest system running AutoCAD Release 13 in
a Microsoft Windows NT environment," said Philippe Ribeyre, vice president
of Digital's Workstations Business Segment. "Digital's AlphaStation
workstations offer unbounded floating point performance and industry
leading 2D and 3D graphics--especially for 3D solids modeling and
rendering in Windows NT environments. AlphaStation workstations with
AutoCAD Release 13 software can handle the most demanding CAD
applications, allowing users to work faster and meet tight time-to-market
deadlines."

"Customers will experience a tremendous speed increase with AlphaStation
workstations running AutoCAD Release 13 software under the Windows NT
operating system," said Robert Carr, vice president of engineering at
Autodesk.

Bob Noftle, president of independent software developer CIMLOGIC says that
AutoCAD Release 13 on Alpha-based systems is perfect for an engineering
environment. The company, which is based in Nashua, New Hampshire, has
been developing AutoCAD-based applications for mechanical design,
drafting, and detailing since 1985. "AutoCAD Release 13 on a workstation
as powerful as an Alpha system will set a new performance standard," said
Noftle. "And AutoCAD Release 13 running in the Windows NT environment is a
benefit to many engineers who are already familiar with the look and feel
of Windows-based office applications. Digital's systems also make it very
easy for engineers to share designs and data because the systems can be
networked together so well. The power of Digital's Alpha systems and
networking capabilities combined with AutoCAD Release 13 will be very
attractive to many of our customers."

Autodesk is the world's leading supplier of computer-aided design (CAD)
automation software and the fifth-largest PC software company. The company
develops, markets, and supports a family of design automation and
professional multimedia software, and component technologies for use on
personal computers and workstations. A global company since its founding
in 1982, Autodesk markets products in 115 countries and 18 languages.
Autodesk shares are traded on the Nasdaq National Market under the symbol
ACAD.

Digital Equipment Corporation is the world's leader in open client/server
solutions from personal computing to integrated worldwide information
systems. Digital's scalable Alpha platforms, storage, networking, software
and services, together with industry- focused solutions from business
partners, help organizations compete and win in today's global
marketplace.
