DELL ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASE OF DELL SAFESITE -- SERVER MANAGEMENT
APPLICATION

Dell Server Management package enhanced to include new features and support
for Microsoft Windows NT network operating system

AUSTIN, Texas, June 13, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL)
today announced the immediate availability of its new release of Dell
SafeSite, an enhancement of its Dell Server Management package which
provides customers with comprehensive server and network management
capabilities. The Dell Server Management package, which includes the
Dell-designed SafeSite server management software, allows network
administrators to monitor the status of the Dell servers on the network,
and to "look inside" individual Dell PowerEdge servers to alert the user
to potential problems, allowing corrective action to be taken. The package
is offered to customers with Dell PowerEdge, servers utilizing the Dell
SCSI array, at no extra charge. The new release of Dell SafeSite
incorporates a number ofenhancements including added support for customers
running the Microsoft Windows NT network operating system and support for
the industry standard network communications protocol SNMP (simple network
management protocol). SNMP provides customers with a standard means of
communicating network management information across a Local Area Network
(LAN). Network devices from many vendors can be managed under one
SNMP-enabled platform of the customer's choosing, such as HP Openview.
SafeSite offers other advanced server management features including remote
paging and expanded user-settable thresholds which allow the network
administrator to preset the server management and monitoring software with
thresholds that recognize possible problems with server components and
automatically page the network administrator giving them the ability to
remotely connect to the network to diagnose the problem. The new remote
paging feature, which will be available in July, is the result of a
cooperative engineering agreement between Dell and FourthWave Software,
Inc., a leader in paging software technology.

"With today's announcement we are continuing to build our Dell Server
Management package to provide unparalleled server and network management
tools for Dell PowerEdge customers running networked mission critical
applications," said Scott Weinbrandt, director of product marketing for
the Dell server group. "Network administrators can now be alerted at any
location day or night and have the ability to take immediate action to
help protect one of their company's most important investments -- network
systems and data."

The Dell Server Management Package

The Dell Server Management package, which includes Dell SafeSite, is
offered on all Dell PowerEdge servers utilizing the Dell SCSI Array and is
a Windows based server management tool designed to help network
administrators more efficiently manage and control the systems and
components of their Dell PowerEdge Server. The Dell Server Management
package offers support for industry standard network operating systems and
networking protocols. The package also provides the network administrator
with monitoring and alerting including:

* A drive array performance monitor to give the network administrator the
status and performance of the Dell SCSI Array (DSA) subsystem and the hard
drives attached to the DSA controller.

* A temperature monitor. Through the use of component-specific thermal
probes, the network administrator has the ability to monitor thermal
integrity within the server, preventing downtime due to potential
overheating.

* A power supply monitor. Individual power circuits are monitored so that
the administrator is able to take corrective action should power integrity
be threatened.

* An alert management system which allows the network administrator to
define alert thresholds which when triggered will evoke a pre-programmed
alert allowing the network administrator to take corrective action to
prevent or limit a mission critical failure.
