DK MULTIMEDIA ANNOUNCES THE EYEWITNESS HISTORY OF THE WORLD ON CD-ROM

NEW YORK (June 12, 1995) -- DK Multimedia, a Dorling Kindersley Publishing,
Inc. company today announced the release of THE EYEWITNESS HISTORY OF THE
WORLD. This comprehensive historical CD-ROM follows the successful release
of The Eyewitness Encyclopedia of Science last fall, and is being released
at the same time as the new Eyewitness Encyclopedia of Nature. EYEWITNESS
HISTORY OF THE WORLD contains more than 700 photographs and illustrations,
three hours of audio as well as numerous animation and narration, creating
an unsurpassed multimedia history of our world.

By combining dynamic maps, pictures, and video, THE EYEWITNESS HISTORY OF
THE WORLD takes users of all ages on various journeys through the seven
continents and over twelve time periods. The screen brings the user into a
den full of books, drawers, artifacts, and a globe that invite
exploration. The user clicks on any part of the world on the globe and
chooses a period of time to explore. A document drawer can be opened to
find hundreds of articles pertaining to a chosen period of time. Turn the
pages of the interactive books on the shelves and discover the people who
have shaped world events or explore aspects of everyday life, culture, and
innovations throughout history.

THE EYEWITNESS HISTORY OF THE WORLD contains 100 videos and animations,
more than 700 photos and illustrations, 150,000 words and three hours of
audio. The archival recordings and speeches allow users to hear Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. deliver his famous speech or watch as a medieval archer
loads and fires his longbow. Watch and listen as the German crowds
joyfully tear down the Berlin wall. All the historical footage has been
carefully re-edited and scripted to ensure that it delivers maximum
impact. Learn more detailed historical facts by clicking through the Who's
Who section of biographies and test your knowledge with the quiz master.

people can better understand and appreciate cultural differences by
