FTG announces PenDirect 2000
Direct, light pen input for Windows '95

Stanton, CA, May 25, 1995--FTG today announced the arrival of its new
PenDirect 2000 package, combining state-of-the-art light pen technology
with support for Windows '95. The product is designed to enhance FTG's
successful line of PenDirect packages.

The light pen technology used by PenDirect 2000 allows a user to point the
stylus at any conventional monitor and achieve direct, precise cursor
control for all mouse functions, including dragging, selecting, pointing
and clicking. PenDirect 2000 is compatible with all Windows 3.x and
Windows '95 applications.

Similar in many ways to a touch screen, PenDirect 2000 provides
significantly higher resolution--at the pixel level with support for up to
1280x1024 screen resolution-without a need for special monitor overlays or
expensive touch screen monitors. PenDirect is compatible with all monitors
and Windows-compatible video cards, without any required alteration to
existing equipment.

The light pen's ergonomic design helps eliminate many of the repetitive
mouse movements which may lead to painful injuries. Its one-to-one cursor
interaction also serves to make daily computer work more efficient and
less tiring.

At the heart of PenDirect 2000 is FTG's newest light pen, the FT-357, which
combines new improved optics, a lightweight design and a new second
button. The second button can be user-programmed to take advantage of
advanced Windows '95 features or right mouse button support. This feature
is especially useful for file management and for accessing special menus
in popular programs.

The second button, located on the barrel of the stylus, complements the
pen' s primary button located at the tip. The tip switch--composed of a
special polymer that glides effortlessly on the screen--simulates a left
mouse button and houses the pen' s precision optics.

PenDirect 2000 includes an ISA-standard interface--the PXL-395--that uses
automatic IRQ selection and streamlined installation software to achieve
ultimate simplicity. The PXL-395 is built around FTG's revolutionary
single-chip design, that lowers power consumption while increasing
resolution and reliability.

PenDirect also includes TalkShow Duo, an innovative and easy-to-use desktop
conferencing application that allows two users connected through a network
or modem to share a common whiteboard. Through the whiteboard metaphor,
users can share graphs, documents and photographs and do real-time
collaboration and annotations, using the light pen for notations.

"FTG has been at the forefront of designing products and packages that help
users interact better with the computer," said Ron Zayas, Director of
Marketing for FTG. "PenDirect 2000 is the next generation in effective,
comfortable input options for Windows '95."

PenDirect 2000 is currently available direct from FTG Data Systems and
retails for $298. Other products in the PenDirect line include PenDirect
for Windows, which uses a one button stylus and retails for $249, and
PenDirect for Mac, a $298 Macintosh version.
