IBM ToolBox Program Assists PowerPC Developers with Special System and
Software Pricing

SOMERS, N.Y., June 19 . . . IBM today announced its IBM Power Series
Developer's ToolBox Program, giving commercial developers worldwide an
easier and more affordable avenue for creating hardware and software
products for the new IBM Power Series. The program was announced in
conjunction with the unveiling of the new family of PowerPC-based systems,
which includes powerful "super-client" notebook and desktop computers.

The IBM Power Series Developer's ToolBox Program was designed to help
developers create highly differentiated products for the rapidly growing
PowerPC-based system market. The Power Series systems offer
industry-leading floating-point performance and algorithms for functions
such as speech, video and graphics, making it an ideal foundation for
applications and products that make computing simpler and more intuitive
than ever before.

"This program is an integral part of our effort to build strong
partnerships with developers that make it easy to do business with IBM,"
said Richard Guarino, general manager, software development and personal
systems business segment, Power Personal Systems Division.

The ToolBox Program minimizes the up-front investment required to develop
products for the new Power Series platform by offering special pricing for
customized system configurations, including PowerPC hardware with
selectable components, operating systems, compilers and other software
development tools as available.

IBM AIX Version 4.1 for Clients and Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 3.51
are available now. IBM OS/2 Warp Connect (PowerPC Edition) and SunSoft
Solaris (PowerPC Edition) will be included in the program when they are
available. Power Series hardware will be available through the Developer's
ToolBox Program for developers who wish to participate in the beta
programs for IBM OS/2 Warp Connect (PowerPC Edition) and SunSoft Solaris
(PowerPC Edition). Information on how to participate in these beta
programs will be sent to members of the Developer's ToolBox Program as
soon as the software is available.

Developers can participate in the program by simply completing and
submitting a signed enrollment form indicating acceptance of the program
terms and conditions.

Commercial developers are authorized to purchase a maximum of 15 customized
systems of each of the IBM Power Series machine types every year of the
program at a special developer's price.

For more information or to order an enrollment form, call (800) 627-8363 in
the United States. In other countries, developers should contact their
local IBM representative.
