INTERPLAY TO DEVELOP ON-LINE GAMES FOR GENIE
NEW VERSION OF HIT GAME DESCENT TO BE FIRST TITLE

May 30, 1995 -- Irvine, California -- Interplay Productions today announced
an agreement with GEnie Online Sevices to develop two games available
exclusively on-line from GEnie for the next six months. The first title,
available in August, will be a deluxe version of Descent with a new
features and options. The second title will be announced at a later date.

"This is an excellent opportunity for us to provide our high-quality games
in a very unique forum," said Brian Fargo, president and CEO of Interplay.
"GEnie has provided us a chance to bring Descent to an even wider
audience, with some very cool features."

"GEnie's commitment to showcasing the world's most innovative games has
never been stronger. Multiplayer Descent and Interplay Productions are an
exciting part of that commitment." said Todd Lefkowitz, GEnie's director
of Games and Entertainment.

#1 on the Internet's Top 100 Games for over four months, Descent places
players in 30 mind-scrambling levels in a 3-D first-person arcade/action
game and a full 360-degree stomach-turning environment. The special
version of Descent for GEnie will feature new variations of Descent, new
hovercraft, tournaments and a new levels weekly.

Game variations include a soccer-style game with two four-player teams and
a "capture-the-flag" game using teams of players. The game will also
feature two new hovercraft in addition to the original one found in
Descent. The two new craft sport either a heavy armor/light weapons set-up
or a light armor/heavy weapons mode. Tournament play will be available and
a seeding system installed so that players will match-up against equal
opponents based on their gameplay record.

Descent, developed by Parallax Studios for Interplay, is set deep in the
mines of Lunar Base I where an unknown alien race has taken over the
outposts of the Post Terrain Mineral Corporation. Players must rescue
stranded hostages, destroy each command center and get out alive. Boasting
30 mind-scrambling levels, players must adjust as top becomes bottom and
hang onto their senses as they scream straight down intense texture-mapped
mine shafts in their fully self-contained futuristic sub-light fighter.

Interplay Productions recently announced an exclusive licensing agreement
with Parallax Software Corporation of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Champaign,
Illinois, the developers of Descent. That agreement calls for Interplay to
publish and distribute the next four software titles which Parallax
develops.

Interplay will also hold the exclusive license for the Descent game engine
for as many as six new products.
