John Neil & Associates announce PowerFPU, a high-performance 68K FPU
emulation utility for the Power Macintosh.

CUPERTINO, California - April 8, 1995 - John Neil & Associates has released
PowerFPU 1.0, a new high-performance 68K FPU emulation utility for the
Power Macintosh. PowerFPU allows older 68K applications that require a
Floating Point Unit (FPU) to work on Power Macintosh computers. PowerFPU
is more than ten times faster than 68K/PowerPC SoftwareFPU, John Neil &
Associates' other low-cost 68K FPU emulator, and faster than some versions
of the Motorola FPU chip it emulates!

Many scientific and graphics applications require an FPU to function.
Straight out of the box, the Power Macintosh will not run non-native FPU
applications, because the built-in Apple 68K emulator is missing 68K FPU
emulation. PowerFPU fills this gap, allowing the user to run almost all
68K FPU applications on the Power Macintosh. While performance varies with
the application and type of Power Macintosh used, most 68K FPU
applications will run with PowerFPU at roughly Macintosh IIci speed.

"PowerFPU is a major performance breakthrough in FPU emulation," said
publisher John Neil. "68K FPU applications that were intolerably slow with
SoftwareFPU will now run at normal speed. People stuck with heavy-duty
non-native FPU applications on their Power Macintosh such as AutoCAD 12
will be very happy with PowerFPU."

Because PowerFPU works very closely with the Apple 68K emulator for maximum
performance, users of newer Power Macintosh computers may want check with
John Neil & Associates to make sure PowerFPU works on their particular
machines. PowerFPU 1.0, currently released, works on all first-generation
Power Macintosh models, including the 6100/60, 7100/66, 8100/80, as well
as the 6100/66, 8100/110 and Performa 6110, 6112, 6115, 6117, & 6118 (AV
models included). It also works on most Apple and third-party PowerPC
accelerator cards. PowerFPU 1.01, due out in April 1995, adds support for
the Power Macintosh 7100/80 and 8100/100 (AV models included). Upcoming
PCI-based Macintoshes will be supported in a future PowerFPU release.

For users who do not need the extra performance of PowerFPU, SoftwareFPU is
still available and has been updated to version 3.03. SoftwareFPU 3.03
fixes a problem with MATLAB and has improved hyperbolic functions and
documentation.

Pricing and Availability:

PowerFPU 1.0 is available now from John Neil & Associates for a special
introductory price of $75. Registered 68K/PowerPC SoftwareFPU owners can
upgrade to PowerFPU for $50 ($60 for registered 68K-only SoftwareFPU
owners). PowerFPU is also distributed by Edutech Inc. (408/372-8100).

Shareware 68K-only SoftwareFPU is available now on-line through America
Online (keyword: MUT), CompuServe (GO MACSYS), eWorld (shortcut
SHAREWARE), on the internet via anonymous ftp (ftp.netcom.com,
/pub/jo/johnneil), or from local Macintosh User's Groups. When users send
in their registration fee ($10 for the 68K-only version, $20 for the "Fat"
68K/PowerPC version) they receive a registered version in the mail.
Overnight delivery is available for extra cost. Users can also register
on-line using CompuServe (GO SWREG), or by telephone, fax, or e-mail.
Registered users can update to SoftwareFPU 3.03 for free by downloading
the shareware version; disk updates are $10.
