Low-Cost Software Expands Available Memory On PCs Running Windows

Users Get Free Upgrade to Windows 95 Version

Clearwater, FL. June 8, 1995 -- Landmark Research International Corp.
announced it is shipping MagnaRAM, its new memory-expanding software for
Microsoft) Corp.'s Windows. MagnaRAM boosts available memory by up to two,
three or even four times the amount of available Windows Memory.

The new software will help Windows users, particularly those with 4MB and
8MB systems, run larger applications, and more applications at the same
time. In 1994, the typical system memory installed on 73% of U.S. small
business PCs was 8MB or less, according to a survey by LINK Resources
Corp.

"MagnaRAM allows the 4MB Windows user to run multiple programs like
Microsoft Word and Excel at the same time -- and their system will run
faster than ever before," said Mike Siewruk, president of Landmark
Research.

MagnaRAM provides users with four key benefits. More effective memory
allows users to run more software applications, and allows these
applications to run faster. Extra memory also allows users to run more
features of complex applications such as Microsoft's Word for Windows.
Finally, users are able to acquire more effective memory at less cost.
Memory typically costs about $200 for 4 megabytes of memory chips.

Users of 1MB systems can avoid the expensive, but necessary physical RAM
upgrade needed to run Windows 95 by installing MagnaRAM. Each copy of
MagnaRAM includes a coupon for a free upgrade to the Windows 95 version of
MagnaRAM, which will begin shipping just after the operating system
ships.

How MagnaRAM Works

MagnaRAM increases available Windows memory by making better use of memory
space. It uses a Windows' driver (VxD) to compress RAM and Windows Virtual
Memory. Normally, when Windows runs out of physical RAM, it uses Virtual
Memory to complete the task. Since the hard disk is not nearly as fast as
RAM, the system slows down every time Virtual Memory needs to be used.

This is where MagnaRAM steps in. When Windows attempts to use Virtual
Memory, MagnaRAM intervenes, compresses the data and stores it right back
into RAM. The result is faster and more available Windows Memory. When no
more room is available for compressed RAM, only then does MagnaRAM
compress Virtual Memory. The resulting benefit is even more available
Windows Memory.

MagnaRAM is fully compatible with memory manager software, such as 386Max
from Qualitas or QEMM from Quarterdeck Corp. Those programs are aimed to
free up conventional memory from a 640K block of RAM used to run DOS
applications.

In comparison. MagnaRAM uses a compression technique that creates extra
Windows memory for running more Windows applications faster.

MagnaRAM's estimated shelf price is $69 (based on a $129 SRP). The software
shipped to the channel on June I and is available through retail software
stores, major distributors and directly from Landmark Research.

MagnaRAM works on 386-based PCs or higher running Windows 3.1 or higher in
enhanced mode, 4 megabytes of RAM or greater and DOS 3.0 or higher is
required.
