Lexmark Bolsters Color Printer Offerings

New Inkjet Printers Among Several Featuring Color Slated for 1995

GREENWICH, CT., May 15, 1995 ....With the demands of today's computer users
for color printing growing by about 30 percent each year, Lexmark
International, Inc. further strengthened its color printing offering with
today's announcements of two new color inkjet printers. The new printers,
the WinWriter 150c and the Color Jetprinter 4079 plus by Lexmark, deliver
high quality color and outstanding value to two key market segments that
require color printing: the occasional home user and the
application-specific business user.

Today's announcements bring the number of Lexmark's color printers to four.
Lexmark set the price standard for color inkjet printing last fall with
the introduction of the ExecJet IIc, the first color inkjet printer under
$300, and earlier this spring it introduced Medley, the industry's first
printer-fax-copier-scanner combination product with color printing
capability.

Printer analysts agree the color printer market is exploding. BIS Strategic
Decisions estimates that 80 percent of all inkjet printers sold in 1995
will be color capable, up from only 26 percent just two years ago, and
that it will increase to 98 percent by 1999. International Data
Corporation predicts almost a three-fold increase in unit sales for color
laser printers from 1994-1996.

"Lexmark is focused on meeting the color printing needs of a broad range of
users," Chairman Marvin Mann said. "The high-volume, color-capable market,
which wants low-cost, high-value products for occasional color printing,
will see a number of inkjet offerings from us this year."

The WinWriter 150c, with an anticipated street price of $349, prints 600 x
300 dpi in both color and true black through dual print cartridges,
providing vibrant color graphics and accent text, or black text, on the
same page. Its sleek exterior design and small footprint meet the
aesthetic and space demands of home and office environments.

The Color Jetprinter 4079 plus by Lexmark, with an estimated street price
of $3,199, provides significant enhancements over its successful
predecessor, the IBM Color Jetprinter PS 4079: broader color range with
standard PostScript Level 2 emulation; enhanced speed through Job Overlap
Processing; network management through Lexmark's award-winning MarkVision
software; and compatibility with PC-compatible, Apple Macintosh and UNIX
environments. Application-specific users such as graphic designers and
CAD/CAM operators who are accustomed to paying significantly more for
their color printers will also find the astonishing sharpness and
brightness of colors and large format printing (up to 11 x 17 inches)
ideal for their work requirements.

Both products are now available through Lexmark authorized distributors and
dealers. The [1m[6][0mWinWriter 150c joins the Lexmark [1m[7][0mExecJet
IIc as a price/feature leader in the retail channel; it is available in
Best Buy stores and soon in other stores.
