Lexmark Expands MarkVision Support To Unix Networks

--Company Introduces New Support for TCP/IP Environments--

GREENWICH, CT., June 15, 1995 ...Lexmark International Inc. today announced
expanded network support for UNIX TCP/IP networks within its MarkVision
for UNIX network printer management family of utilities, thereby
simplifying printer management on TCP/IP networks.

MarkVision for UNIX is a comprehensive collection of tools for configuring
and managing printers in a UNIX TCP/IP network environment. The new
software extends MarkVision support to include UNIX environments from IBM,
Sun, SCO, HP, Novell and AT&T.

With MarkVision for UNIX, Lexmark supports both the Network Printer
Alliance Protocol (NPAP) and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
standards for management of network attached printers. MarkVision switches
automatically to the correct protocol to be used with each printer on the
network.

"For network administrators, the MarkVision utility, including MarkVision
for TCP/IP Networks, provides the most comprehensive printer management
tool on the market today," said Glenn Hudson, general manager, Network
Attachment Products. "We are pleased to lead the printer industry in the
development of new printer management technology for enterprise networks
and local area networks."

MarkVision for UNIX utilizes a fully graphical OSF/Motif user interface on
systems compatible with X11R4 Xservers. The MarkVision for UNIX can also
run from non-UNIX systems such as Microsoft Windows 3.1, 3.11, Microsoft
Windows NT, and IBM OS/2 running Xserver software. For customer
environments with non-graphical user interfaces, MarkVision can run in
character mode. Remote network and dial-in access to the MarkVision client
software is provided through Telnet capabilities.

"IBM is delighted that Lexmark provides excellent printer management
utilities on IBM AIX environments," said Donna Van Fleet, Vice President
AIX Systems Development, RS/6000 Division. "With all of MarkVision's
capabilities, Lexmark has made the AIX administrator's job easier."

systems:
