Lexmark's MarkVision Printer Management Software Now Supports Windows NT
Server

GREENWICH, CT., June 12, 1995 ...Lexmark International Inc. today announced
that it has expanded its MarkVision for Windows printer management
application for Windows to now support Microsoft Windows NT Server
versions 3.1, 3.5 and 3.51 for printers attached on a Windows NT-based
network. In addition, MarkVision supports the TCP/IP protocol for Windows
and Windows for Workgroups versions 3.1 and 3.11.

This enables MarkVision for Windows to communicate through a WinSock
interface directly to a Lexmark Optra, 4039 plus or Color Jetprinter 4079
plus printer attached to the network with a MarkNet XL Internal Network
Adapter (INA) or the MarkNet XLe External Network Adapter (ENA). With this
function, network managers can now dial into the network and manage their
printers remotely. Combined with other enhancements, MarkVision supports
the broadest range of network operating systems compared to any other
printer management utility in the industry.

MarkVision reduces the amount of time needed to manage printer and network
printing issues in today's networking environments. With the Remote
Operator Panel (ROP), MarkVision enables network administrators to view
the complete printer operator panel remotely from their workstations and
configure the printer just as though they were standing at the printer.

MarkVision's alert-driven architecture enables the printer to interrupt or
alert the client workstation of any problems. By providing immediate
notification when the printer status changes, MarkVision avoids the
unnecessary network overhead generated by a polling architecture.

"This announcement is the direct result of customer feedback requesting
support for Windows NT Server environments," said Glenn Hudson, general
manager of Lexmark's Network Attachment Products. "Through our
collaboration with Microsoft, we are pleased and excited to be able to
provide total solutions to our customers."

"We are pleased that Lexmark has added Windows NT Server to the list of
operating systems supported by their printer management software," said
Mike Nash, group product manager in the business systems division at
Microsoft. "Their support of Windows NT Server demonstrates both their
commitment to their customers, and the continued deployment of Windows NT
Server."

Lexmark's current network printing products offer a broad range of
compatibility for all leading operating system environments. Lexmark's
Optra printer family supports 1,200 x 1,200 dpi printing and up to two
MarkNet or MarkNet XL INAs with multiprotocol capabilities that support
printing from more than 30 network environments including Novell NetWare,
Microsoft Windows NT Server, IBM OS/2 LAN Server, Banyan VINES and a full
spectrum of UNIX environments.

Lexmark International is an independent worldwide company that develops,
manufactures and markets network and personal printers, typewriters,
information processing supplies and keyboards.
